have a 93 chevy 6.5 turbo that started to stall after start (cold and hot?). Seems it does not get enough fuel after initial start. Have to crank a while to get fuel. Have changed filter and fuel cap.

What about the fuel pump? That would be my first guess for fuel starvation issues.

Was the PMD replaced on the injection pump? This is a very common problem with the 6.5. The PMD should be replaced when the pump is rebuilt. If it has not you can purchase a remote mount kit called an FSD cooler and a new PMD and install it yourself. Be sure that fuel supply pressure is to spec before you replace anything.

The PMD is a common fail item on the 6.5 DS4 IP, no 6.2 or 6.5 mechanical IP have them. Probably also the most mis- diagnosed part on the engine, the 94-2000 6.5s were one of the 1st "fly by wire" forrays into Diesel fuel & drivetrain management.
GM's less than stellar grounding system is one of the 1st things to be checked, then fuel delivery to the IP, fuel shutdown solenoid, OPS, & lift pump all need to be ruled out 1st before committing to a PMD swap.
I highly recommend relocating your drive onto a cooler outside the engine bay wherin it then becomes a fuel solenoid driver (FSD) from a pump mounted driver (PMD). That location IMO was a marginal design location as intent was that fuel in the IP would keep the drivers transistors cool, again less than stellar results in that location.
Heath Diesel sells a replacement driver kit that carries a no BS 7 yr warranty to cover it if it ever fails again. Remar-q sells a new technology driver module for about same money but only carries 5 yr warranty, Kennedy Diesel, DSG, SS Diesel and several others sell a remote driver kits with limited warranty to kit and driver.
GM issued a special policy covering the 6.5 electronic IP 100yr, or 120K miles it may be covered under warranty. Some dealers look for ways to avoid it or generate extra coin to offset the internal labor rate the loose when doing GM warranty work vs. labor rate they get to charge you.
For a full description on what you need to do to try and get warranty honored and a full troubleshooting tree for the 6.5 look at the FAQ at this web site www.dieselplace.com in the 6.5 section

First make sure you have glows that can take extended glow operation, 9G or 11G I would not recommend any extended glow operation other than what glow controller is calling for, have you checked all glows for function, and that glow controller is actually sending voltage to all glows. A healthy glow system should not need extended glow time unless in sub zero weather, or you are tring to overcome some other mechanical problem, did you install larger injectors or "turn up the pump".
The 6.2/6.5 has a high compression indirect injection system designed to require minimal glow time, more info please on what you have done thus far to troubleshoot. I just posted my glow issue in the 6.5 forum http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/showthread.php?p=1372164#post1372164, 6.2 uses a similar set up maybe some benefit for you to read that post

First place to look is fuel filter, even a recently changed one can cause issues, then do lift pump check on FAQ list www.dieselplace.com which could lead you to the OPS common fail item that carries the power to the lift pump, or the lift pump itself

Hello People out there, I have a 83 GMC Sierra, with the 6.2 diesel. I'm getting ready to put stacks on, i don't have any turbo's but i wanted to run a pair of glasspacks and i was wondering if that will make it run better, with the more airflow thanks

i didnot look how old this post is but ...
lucky you diesels need no back pressure in the exhaust so you can run the most loud nasty exhaust you want

Mine is an 84 6.2, but I had the injector pump rebuilt, and had it turned up a bit, also installed larger injectors. Made a big difference. As far as I know there are no other performance parts for the 6.2L, I looked for headers, but found none, you can put on a larger air filter, but I dont think it does any good. I did see a gear driven timing gearset, that was said to give better performance, but I dont know if it really works. But I would like to see how it sounds! Anybody else have any info on a NA 6.2L?

trace the wires on the ignition switch that actuate the plugs then just install a momentary push button switch in there
