We need more euro diesels in the states. Car and Driver just did a test on a BMW 330d, and they really liked it, and they aren't diesel people. 0-60 in 6.0 seconds, a slick 6 spd manual and 38 mpg on the highway. You cant beat that combo with a stick. BMW makes a wide range of diesels for sale in europe, all with big power and great economy. Also, too bad the new VW Rabbit doesnt offer a TDi option yet, becasue at $14,900 I would be hot to buy one. Now, I am waiting on the F-150's to get that 4.5 v-6 (200 hp, 440 lb/ft) powerstroke, hopefullly with about 250hp made by international, and is currently used in the ford LCF medium duty truck.

Remember those old dodge ramcharger? They where sort of a cross between a Jeep and a Bronco. A cummins would be awesome in one because they would go everywhere before. The perfect truck: Ford body and frame, Cummins engine, Allison transmission, Atlas transfer case, Chevy luxuries but no IFS

Have you heard of the chevy 1500 HD with its 10mpg 6.0l? It would be great to have that truck with a diesel eng. The improvement in mpg would be worth alot

Do any of you remember the SSD chevrolet created by (i think) Banks? that should be a factory option and Chevy should make their own version of the power wagon. It's only fair. dodge has the power wagon and the srt-10 ram, i want an offroad bowtie and an 1500 ss diesel with 500 hp and 700 lb-ft. thats all i'm askin'

I'd like one in something like a Ford Escape, or a minivan, for the wifey. She's mind boggled that my F-250 gets better mileage than her Plymouth voyager. Unfortunately, there's nothing out there in her market w/ a diesel, except that Jeep Liberty, that's probably one of the ugliest things on the road.

As I look around for a replacement for the wife's minivan, what I would most like to see, is a diesel/manual tranny option in the Toyota FJ Criuser.

Every single *** one should have it as option. No compromise, no retreat from this point! Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think that's actually the law in Germany (quelle surprise if true, eh?) and other parts of Europe. Here's mine: the 6.2/6.5 diesel is roughly same dimensions and weight as Chevy big-block petrol V8, and uses same mounts according to the recent D/P project article. Hot-up one of these--increase RPM range to ~4500rpm max--to put about 350-375 wheel-power/700-odd torque and put it in mid-80s Camaro IROC/Z-28. Use "Tranzilla," the aftermarket version of Borg-Warner/Tremec T-56 uprated for 1200 hp/similar torque, and aftermarket swap version of Dana 60 rearend for durability. Subframe ties--the proper kind that integrate with the floorpan--probably mandatory, and gear tall enough to not overspeed the engine. With suspension and braking mods to match performance, there's no reason you can't have 240+ km/h top end, with 140-160 km/h, all-day cruising. Can you say "road-burner" kiddies? How 'bout "kilometre-long rolling burnouts?" Biodiesel whenever possible goes w/o saying, at least for me. B/t/w, "A5-Jetta" and his commentary is absolutley correct. Let's crawl out of Big Oil's ass shall we? These are some of the most viciously evil, psychotically self-centred people on Earth. They don't deserve another dime from us...what they deserve is to be strung up by their intestines. Crimes Against Humanity (IE: Iraq) and all that, y'know

Oh lets see... I want a Diesel Ranger (already exist overseas), F-150 would be cool, H2, some sort of inexpensive sports car like say a WRX Performance Diesel. Oh boy.. just about anything that burns gas would be fun as a diesel!
As soon as they offer a Ranger with a Diesel in America, I'll be the idiot camping out in front of the Ford Dealer!

Ultra-uber Luxo-Barge:
I think, that if there's any passenger car in existence that can swallow the Cummins 5.9/6.7 litre, it's probably the 1969 and earlier--IE Rear-wheel-drive--Cadillac Eldorados. Hop up the engine to increase the RPM range as I outlined in my post re: 6.2/6.5 in 80s Camaro; 4500 rpm would be nice, but for this engine 4000 is probably more realistic maximum. Gear to use all that insane torque--read: super-tall--add "long-ranger" tank package with auxillary tank in part of trunk. These cars have huge trunks, room to spare...Can you say "continent devouring land-shark?" No, those disgusting yuppie swine-mobile SUV's are NOT the "modern version" of this! America needs to start building CARS again, and something like this w/ modern technology applied would be very, very cool, yes? Especially a convertible!

A wrx performance diesel? hmmm. thats what Ive had in mind for a while too. An ST(D)i if you will. well according to D/P a boxer diesel is on its way. Keep the dream alive. It might become a reality soon. especially since the unveiling of the diesel rally car from GM is letting carmakers think in that direction.

I'd stand in line for a diesel-powered Jeep Wrangler. Especially a Rubicon!
2003 Dodge Ram 2500 Laramie 4x4. H.O. Cummins, 6spd manual trans, 4.10 gearing. Intake, Exhaust, Hot Juice, HTT HTB2 62/12/65, Jake Brake, 305-65R17 (33 x 12.50) Pro-Comp Extreme All Terrains, SBC Con O FE, Fuel Tank Vent Mod, Various other gizmos.
I-6 Cummins guys are keepin' it straight. Those other boys swing both ways.

a 6cyl toyota tacoma. strong enough to tow a basic 23 foot boat. I want good gas milage. I don't care about acceleration or top speed. Just towing average size stuff and still have the ability to do a little average trail riding/crawling. Did toyota stop making the diesel in Canada?
