I can't read the id tag directly on my engine. So I can't give a positive yes or no on that..
But on my qsk 19 cummins the id tag says made in USA.
so can't say for sure on the 6.7 in my truck

I found an article that says the cut cummins production at the indiana plant due to the shutdown of the Chrysler pickup truck assembly plant in Mexico.
So I would guess that yes the engines are all still made in Columbus Indiana

i heard we Mopar Quit bilding trucks down in mexico. i heard that Forgin compnay nissan is leasing out that plant from chysler. there start bilding titains there. most of dokotas and ram 1500s are being made in Louisiana. i thought the 3/4 and one 1 tones are being made up in Michigan. Im not a 100% on it. I have 05 1/2 tone dodge that was made in Louisiana. The cummins engines are still made in Columbus Indiana.

your right outsourcing to other countries has gotten really expensive and has taken away many american jobs. The Cummins engine is entirely seperate building operation then the dodge pick up that it goes in.

The Duramax is a great engine and a killer transmission. The Cummins 6.7 is good too, but gets crappy mileage, don't really know about the Powerstroke yet. Stick with GM, it will never let you down.

crappy milaeage on the 6.7? for 09 with no mods the 6.7 is far more efficient than the other two, while nothin glike the 5.9 was but thats expected it is bigger and more powerful. I own a 09 ram 3500 with the 6.7 and i did the dpf delete and i get EXCELLENT fuel mileage. Im not used to the conversion i live up in northern canada but i get about 800 km's out of a tank of fuel in miles that would be about 500 miles. And the power is amazing. wouldnt have it any other way. Dodge Cummins is the only way to go. Yes duramax is an excellent engine, if chev had a solid front axle id be all for that. and ford= great truck, tough long lasting with a POS engine. Up here they just dont last in the extreme cold. they fall apart. i hear about a blown ford engine all the time here, chev and dodge, no problems (with the dpf delete). Just my two cents!

LMAO @ crappy mileage. My '08 3500 QC longbed is getting 15 MPG @ 75 MPH using cruise control, and if I could legally dump the DPF I know I could get another 2 MPG easily. If I dropped to 65 - 70 MPH there are quite a fews folks on here that believe I could get more like 17 to 20 MPG.
I took my truck on its first distance run from just west of Boise, ID to Rexburg, ID (385 miles) and still had a bit more than a quarter tank, so 500 miles a tank is definately possible.

back to the original topic. This is not a question on which truck is better, because they all have there goods and bads its which powerplant is the best. Im not a die hard dodge guy iv loved chevy my howl life. But i just cant see anything out there today anywhere near as good as a cummins engine. Im not sayin that cus i own one. i own one cus i know they are the best. they put those engines in everything from trucks to excavators and tractors that run 24 hrs a day, and they just hold up. duramax is the closest thing to perfection. they use the izuzu which is becoming another proven engine. for a V8 design i think they got er down. but there is a reason izuzu builds straight 6's for most of there other applications. a v8 is a gas engine design. it will never be as durable when put in the HD world. just check out the components on the inside of the engines, do the research. All the guts on the inside of a cummins are atleast twice the size of either a chevs duramax or a ford powerstroke. lets not even start on the powerstrokes. I have nothning against ford. they do build a strong truck. but there powerplant thats another story. they change there engine every 2 yrs. and still havnt found anything worth keeping. id go back to the old 7.3's and work on that block, that was by far fords best diesel. I have buddys with the new 6.4's and they hate them. both are planning on trading off before they run out of warranty, and they are in the shop withoyut a word of a lie. atleast once a month getting something done. mostly due to our cold here i think.
Us cummins guys are keepin it straight, those other guys swing both ways!

i agree with the CAT concept but unfortunatley both the 7.3 and CAT motors cant pass emissions. Rumor is that as of 2010 CAT is done with truck motors because of all this global warming *** and that was the same fate that the 7.3 had

Well the 7.3 hasn't been made in like 6 years, and emissions wasn't the only reason. The engine lacked power compared to the Cummins and Duramax, and it just wasn't a competitive design.
Cat stopped making on-road engines period. They knew the new emissions were going to cost them too much to keep a decent profit margin and have the design out in time to stay in the market.

Cant wait for the new powerstroke 6.7 and Duramax to come out in 2010. These poor basterds are going to have to be filling with that uria crap while us dodge guys dont have to worry. I here all the semi trucks are going to have to use it too. Looks like Cat got out just in time.
