fordpolarisskidoo: and allso ford hasn't got any $ from the bail out and chevy got billions and so did crysler, i say no more.
Ford has not asked for any government bailout money because they secured financing just before the bottom fell out of the economy. After the markets crashed no one would bail out GM or Chrysler, so they had to go to someone that's stupid enough to make that loan...the government. Ford was the worst off out of the big three...everyone was sure they wouldn't make it another month, but they landed a big loan which kept them going. Some of you guys sure have short memories...or maybe it's selective memories.

to be honest, the 7.3L PowerStroke V8 was the best diesel out there. i dont care what anyone says. it can beat the 6.6 DuraMax, and the 6.7? Cummins. my dads work has a whole FLEET of those trucks. some with over 300,000 miles on them. the only thing is, glow plugs. my list is, Ford, Chevy, GMC, Nissan, Dodge, Toyota.

I think the only true test to these trucks is to put them to work side by side.Im a mechanic for large landscaping company and we have a fleet of 20 trucks.3 of them being fords.2 with the 7.3 and the other being the twin turbo. The rest of the trucks are dodge with the cummins and the chevys with the duramax. We also have a few chevys with the 6.0 gas. Now for the duramax. Its ok if al you need is a car that thinks its a truck. To put a skid loader behind this truck and think it will pull with ease....thats just plain silly. The dodge cummins that everyone is bragging about here is worse than the duramax. When we need a truck to get our guys to a job loaded with equipment we send them in the fords. We also have 2 sterlings with your famous cummins motors and they dont get the job done.Because Im the one working on these trucks I can tell you all that our chevy and dodge trucks spend more time in the shop than out in the field. The only way these trucks are profitable for us is if we leave them parked. That way we save thousands in towing costs.Bottom line here is dont send a boy out to do mans job.If you want dependability, endless power, and a REAL TRUCK buy a FORD.And for all you diehard cummins and duramax fans... just for fun we loaded our duramax, our cummins and our powerstroke all with the same trailers and skid loaders on them and had us drag race. The proof was there. The ford pulled away and continued to pull away from the others without any problem. The duramax came close to being the loser but the cummins was indeed the biggest loser.

what all have you done to your truck. i have a bone stock 05 chevy 2500 hd and i want to add some modes but i dont know much about diesel trucks other than what little i have learned from reading. i go to truck/tractor pulls and try to pick up on some inside info but i am still not very confident with my diese knowledge. i want to build my truck where it will still be very dependable and fun yet still be able to go rock some mustangs and any other punks that think they have fast cars but i would appreciate any info you would be willing to share. Also i live in middle tn...do you know of a good diesel mechanic close by that you would recomend? Thank you and have a blessed day.

hmm funny for a guy who is mechanic you would think he would know the difference between a twin turbo and a variable turbo. no light truck manufacturer puts twins on their light duty trucks only larger class trucks like your class 8 have twins from the factory
I burn more diesel and run more miles in a week the most of you people do in a month. ctds that have been used 97 3500, 98.5 3500, 98.5 3500,01 3500, 03 3500. those that are being used 06 3500, 07 3500. and yea these trucks earn their living

Here is a link to fords very own web site advertising a duel turbo set up.
The last I checked duel means 2 so that would mean from my understanding of math is that ford does sell a light truck with more than one turbo. 2 of them to be exact
This does not mean that fords version of a duel turbo set up is anything like putting an aftermarket twin turbo set up on a light truck but it does conclude that ford does do it. It is standard on all of there 2009 6.4l powerstrokes.

While you could call the Ford turbo setup "dual" in the sense that it has two turbos, it would be more accurate to call it a "sequential" turbo. The smaller turbo is for off-idle situations, and spools up quickly, then feeds into the larger turbo. A true "twin" turbo setup on a V8 would be each cylinder bank being fed by its own turbo.

The point of the post was not if it was a sequential turbo or not just whether or not it had 2.
I think that the set up is a complet waiste of a turbo its the matter that is has 2 where people are saying it does not.
