If you guys could build your own trucks, which engine/trans would you put with which truck? Would you have a Ford with a Cummins? Dodge with a Duramax? Dodge with a CAT?

I don't know. I like the 24v myself, but again I've had little experience w/ 12v's
I've read about some 12v's making insane amounts on h.p.!

I would build a Truck Based on a new 2007 Dodge but with a 172inch Wheelbase.  It would read "2008 Dodge Ram 4500HD Mega Cab Laramie 4x4 Long Bed (8Ft).  Then I would put the Caterpillar C7 7.2Liter with 350HP, 850Ft-Lbs Torque.  The transmission would either be a NVG5600 6 Speed Manual or the Allison 1000 Series Automatic w/Tap Shift.  Put a 4.55 rear end in it, with Front And Rear air bag suspension, 22.5" American Force 10 Lug Wheels, and twin 6" stack coming out of the bed.  Oh and for good measure I would put a Transfer Flow or equivalent 60 to 80 Gallon Fuel Tank in it.   Gives me chills just thinking about it.

Soungs like a sweet rig, But what about an under/overdrive unit? I'd definatly want one especially with 4.55's ( I want one with my 3.55's!)
You didn't mention a front axle, Don't tell me this dream truck of yours is 2WD.

Mulling over a Chevy LUV (pre smog but especially with a diesel!) with a duramax engine.  If they can run high 11's with a programmer and bottle at 5000+lbs, I figure a 3000lbs street truck should fly!

I would have loved to see a '79 Ford f250 with a cummins in it.  I loved those trucks and they sure stood the test of time.  I know a few fellas that still have '78 and '79 f250's on the road.  That is probably my favorite body style ever.

I would have the F550 with a Cat C7, Allison World Transmission, 22.5 rubber, dropped air suspension, weedburner exhaust.  Good towing vehicle, no 4X4 in this, too heavy, just get you stuck further from the road.

MAN!!!  All those idea's sound awesome!!  If any one of us won the Lotto, I'm sure we'd all build or buy our dream truck (s)..........If I had that kinda cash though, I wouldn't stop at just one truck.....I'd have a Fully decked F650 6door like my avatar with a Cat C7 with every power mod known.....But i'd have my 05 Dodge/Cummins 4x4 Maxed out aswell....I want a street sleeper. Something that'll run 11's in the quarter...May have to do a 12V for that, but anyway...........You guys have some great idea's...

Putting a Diesel in something unexpected, like a smaller truck or car sounds radical!!! That may be the best Sleeper of all!!!!!!!!  Yeah Baby!!!

"I love the smell of Diesel fuel in the morning!!"

"CUMMINS GUYS KEEP IT STRAIGHT!!! THOSE OTHER GUYS SWING BOTH WAYS!!!"

My dream truck is a chevy 7500 with a 3116 cat motor, lifted sky high, 4wd, and a pair of dual 8in stacks. This thing would be built to the hilt. with every power mod avalible, and not to forget the air ride suspension and seats. Man its great to have a wonderful dream.
