Hey Wolfy, Having driven a Semi for several years, when you first start using Bio Diesel, it will clean out all the crud in your tank and lines and deposit that into your fuel filter.

I used to carry a couple of extra fuel filters just in case the filter clogged up.  Its worth a try, change the fuel filter and see if that helps.  The only other thing I could think of could be a weak lift pump might be causing it.

But try the Fuel filter first.  That's the thing about Bio Diesel, it will really clean out the tanks and the fuel lines, so its good from that standpoint but when it does the cleaning action, the fuel filters tend to clog up.

You didn't say what percent of Bio you were using.  Usually what I found was 5 percent caused no problems.  When you get up around 20 percent, that's where you start having the fuel filters clogging up.

Hope this helps

Happy Trails

I am not real knowledgable on the new biodiesel but talking to a local diesel mechanic; he sais that the higher percent will clogg the fuel filter and may give you other problems. He also said that in the winter it probably won't work to well becuase it gets to thick. I would change the filter and see what it does and if that doesn't work just ask a local diesel mechanic and see what it could be.

It not all the junk in the fuel system getting cleaned out that clogges your fuel filter its all the junk in the bio-fuel.  Bio diesel is not very clean and it gells more easy in cold weather.  There is a fuel addative made by Power Service called Diesel Kleen that will help with both regular and bio diesel.  When you engine sits for a while the crud goes to the bottom of the filter bowl and you can start more easy. Then when you run it it sticks two you filter and plugging it and then you will notice reduced power and hard starting.

20% bio 80% standard is a good mix by the way.  and carry an extra filter at all times.  If you have two many problems plugging filters them think about a stainer put in line before your primary filter to catch some of the bigger stuff.
