G'day all, rumour has it that next year the Toyota Land Cruiser is getting a V8 Diesel http://www.drive.com.au/Editorial/ArticleDetail.aspx?ArticleID=21301&vf=7 There was another article on the web i was trying to find that was taken from a local 4x4 magazine, but i cant seem to find that. From memory it basically said the 79 series utes (pickups, sorry hehe) (btw, a 79 series is toyotas idea of a full-size ute over here, go to www.toyota.com.au if you want a look (it hasnt changed much since it was released in 1984 or there abouts)) would get a single turbo version of the V8 diesel, with the new cruiser wagon getting the twin-turbo version. As for who makes it, i'm not totally sure. I did hear on a forum over here that on some saudi/middle eastern site they said it was a Cummins V8. When i went to that particular webpage it wasnt in a language i could read though.
Well the new V8 diesel has been released over here in the 70-series....http://lc70.toyota.com.au/toyota/vehicle/HomePage/0,4666,4104_1612,00.htmlGranted, the body style hasnt changed much since it was first released in around 1984.... But the front sheet metal is all new. Goes rather well too We dont get the same Toyota utes (err...pickups, sorry ) as you do over there. Apparantly the new version of the 100 series is gonna get a twin-turbo'd version of the same engine, which will be even better i'd say. We've also just got the new 4-door Jeep Wrangler over here to. The diesel version of that seems pretty darn good too, pitty they arent doing the Rubicon version in the diesel.
