Emmissions and to try and get better. No company wants to get worse but unfortunetly the powerstroke did at first. Every company is going to have to make changes(like the Cummins did) because of all the Government BS. Ford just got a bad deal. Hopefully they move forward form here out.

Why would we want to go backwards? Sure the 7.3 was a great motor, the 6.0 not as great, but we all learn from our mistakes.
If we lived by this way of thinking we would all be driving non-turbo fully manual diesels... now where would the fun in that be?!?
As soon as they offer a Ranger with a Diesel in America, I'll be the idiot camping out in front of the Ford Dealer!

Because the 7.3 was a heck of A LOT BETTER than a 6.0 i like them juzt as much but the 7.3 was a powerful son of a *****
