dream on dude, even with a VP44 the cummins will whoop a 7.3, i know this and i have two 7.3s and a 6.0. you're gonna need 20k in that 7.3 at this for it to even tolerate 700 on spray. an 04 cummins just turned 1100+  on spray last week. as of right now, the highest HP 7.3 on fuel is ~602 if i recall correctly, there was one run reported at 671 but i never saw the sheet. that was with extensive head work, custom rods, push rods, main studs and girdle, custom valve springs, large turbo (~80mm), custom pistons, 530 injectors and so on. you put 20k in a cummins and you've got 1000whp on fuel, especially if it's got a p pump.

02 cummins: first off more valves does mean more power. proof is in fords 5.4L v8. before it only had 2 valves then they upgraded it to 3 vlaves per cylinder basically it went from like 260 hp to 300 hp. more valves means air will get moved through the engine faster

if that's true, then why are the highest hp cummins 12 valves? more valves does not equal more power. i don't know of one 24V (CP3 or junk VP44 typically the lowest hp) that has reached over 1k hp on fuel alone, no spray.

that is true its a fact . the highest hp come from the 12v's because they are generally more durable and alot of them are mechanical

In each gen of Cummins the block, bottom end,ect gets stronger but the injection pumps don't. The vp-44 and CP3 will never live up to the 94-98 12v Bosch P7100. That things a beast. Every high end race motor has 4 or more valve heads they just flow better but if you can't dump endless amounts of fuel at them their not going to do much good. The secret of the 1000hp lies in the P-pump

hmm so what your saying is a 99 cummins with 110,000 miles on it for 12,500 is a good deal? i thought so but it had no balls!!!    my moto is if it aint got alot of balls stock it probably aint gonna have alot of balls when you put money into it. ( unless you put alot in it).         i will check towmorrow to see if the pickup is still for sale. if it is i will try to get him down to 11,000 and probably buy it if he will go that low. i know he will if i walk up too him with a 11,000 check in my hand and say take it or im ripping it up and walking away. lol.             ok who said that the most power they have seen out of a 7.3 is like 607 or something!!! look in the back of this months magazine. very last page in the top left cornor it says a 96 7.3 with 1000hp. dont take it to the grave that is is true but that is what it says.

Top left of last page May 2007 says " 1000HP F-350". Sorry it's not a 7.3 or a 6.0 it's a...( man I just love this part) 5.9 Cummins!

ok i think i am going to go with the same one as i gots on pickup. should run me about 400 but if i buy from my sister (she owns rhino linings dealership and truck accessories store in alliance nebraska) i will get the family discount and should get it for 250 or 300.

would a k&n airfilter make it a little louder to? i dont care about turbo soundin this truck. all i want is a loud beller that sounds cool.

I run a AFE intake and it's plenty loud but if you want it really loud take out the silencer ring as well. You REALLY want to know your fuel pressure so get some gauges. The factory lift pump is crap so start looking at a performance pump like a FASS it's a lot cheaper than a new vp-44 injection pump which you WILL be replacing if you leave that stock carter lift pump on your truck!

900 rwhp vs a stock 270hp 7.3? i think you are dreaming a little bit, that gasser would eat that 7.3 if both were pulling the same weight and if both truck had the same gearing. but of course it would run out of gas veryyyy quickly

here one that will make you laugh one of my freinds compares this if you put $10,000 in a 5.9 cummins vs. putting $10,000 in a dodge SRT-10 which one do you think is going to win stock 325hp 610ft cummins that weighs 6000 pounds plus vs. stock 500hp 600ft(just a guess on torque) viper V10 that weigh about 4000 to 4500 pounds THis is a very bad comparison the trucks do cost the same but man you shouldn't even have to put that kind of money in a viper V10 powered truck it should be the most bad butt truck you can buy on the market but maybe you could compare them if the SRT-10 would put on a little weight

Let the good coal roll
Warning !!!! I have an opinion and I am not afraid to use it !!!!!!

srt-10 power figures are 510 hp and 535 lb ft of tq. there are some aftermarket providers that can up the hp over 800. i have seen some vipers that run twins and make over 2000 RWHP

Hey for all of you boys who want to talk *** about the 7.3's bring yourselves on out to the jamboree in Lima this coming year and watch the 7.3's whoop the 5.9's a$$e$ again just like they did last in the truck on truck pulls.  Or if you feeling froggy bring your 5.9 out time lima cause of 7.3L and our 6.0L brethern got more for you than you ever bargained for out of a pstroke.  So this is a put up or shut up challenge for all of you cummins boy's to come on out and try to show us something other than those sad excuses for diesels they had trying to pull us last year!
