I have experience with all of these trucks, and they are all great in their own right, and i grew up a ford man until i drove a dodge/cummins. In my personal opinion the chevy/gmc is a more refined truck. With IFS and a quiet motor it seems more like the truck you would buy if you lived in a suburb and wanted a diesel to pull your boat but you knew your wife would need to drive it and you wouldnt want to hear her complain about your "big noisy truck". I only know two people who use a duramax to pull serious loads, one of them has fried a few injectors, and the other guys truck runs great, but he only bought a chevy cause he got old and liked the nice ride. Its a good lookin truck but definitely not my favorite. In the farm county i live in most of the trucks around here are fords. They're great trucks, good lookin(except the 08's,ugh), but alot of folks around here are going to dodges now or are at least buying old 12 valve dodges for their "real" farm trucks and use their ford for daily driving. The only exception is the 7.3. The 6.0s are junk for the most part. Some people get lucky with them but it seems like that is the exception and not he rule. I personally love the dodges, the engine, the transmission, the transfer case, the axles, the interior/exterior. The only way i would ever go back to a ford is if i built one like the F-550 in Diesel Power with the Cummins/6 speed, i love that truck! I have a friend whose dad owns the small ford dealership in the town nearest us and he told me that they are already having problems with the new 08s, and to top it all of most of the problems are with the lower turbo or is on the backside of the motor and they have to take the cab of the chassis to fix it. Thats ridiculous and you can bet it tears his daddy up, i see them outside all the time waitin to get fixed. When i go to the feed store in my big dodge dually with 230,000 miles and see these trucks with under 50,000 miles having to be PUSHED into the service bay, i just grin and sometimes blow a little smoke out my straight-piped stacks when i see my buddy out there pushin, hahahaha! But seriously, all these trucks are more than most people need most of the time. Its all poinion. Lifes to short to argue with fllow diesel fans, i dont know about yall but id rather buy anything with a diesel, regardless of which engine, just to avoid a gas burner.

Rented a truck to go to the states to pick up an ATV. Figured I'd save some money while our dollar is kickin ass. Anyway. Wife needed my truck. So I rented one. They gave me an 07 dodge diesel. Here are my experiences. First off, barely fit a carseat in the back. No room in the back seat! Always overgeared. Lugs along, drives me crazy. WIND NOISE!!! Oh my god how do you hear anything! Between the wind noise and rattles inside I almost went insane. Turning radius....I would turn the same as I did in my ford to park in a spot and would only make it halfway into the spot beside where I wanted to be. Terrible. Steering feel, it's like the pump surges or something funny, couldn't figure it out. Cheap looking interior with fisher price controls. Not only was it a terrible ride but my leg and ankle on my right leg kept going numb. It was all in all the worst vehicle I have ever had to drive. I've driven all three and this has been the worst ever. I don't know how someone can own one of these cheap, unrefined, noisy leg numbing POS's.

New to this conversation, but here it is! I have a 2001 chevy dually w/lB7. I love the trunk. the only mod i made was a larger exhaust. It pulls like a dream, but the gas mileage is better on the dodge than chevy or ford. The cab is bigger on the ford then chevy then dodge.(not counting the megacab) My best freind has a 06 ford with 6.0 motor, and has had to replace the turbo. The way i bought my truck is i hooked up my 14k lbs car hauler and towed it up the biggest hill in New Mexico. First the dodge, then chevy, then ford. The chevy out pulled the other two by far. That was then, this is now. I would like to see true side by side comparison between the trucks, by a now bias source. I will never go back to another gas motored truck, so may the best truck win.

and as for the guy talking about cats in a ford never gonna happen cat is not building any motor for light duty diesel trucks and its not in the works so if they do it wont be for a long while. and toyota if ever to build a hd truck will be a hino diesel wich is the company they partially own. i am a heavy duty diesel tech i work on cummins, intl, cat, detroit, and mercedes benz motors and can tell you i work on more cats than anything else not that there not a good motor its just there not the holy grail some are so ignorant they only like them cause there yellow! i will chime in notice every big rig on the planet has a inline 6 cyl lurking under the hood...y is that? i think you know why! have you ever seen a powerstroke or a duramax in an industrial application I.E. generator/loader/dozer? have you ever seen one in a marine application? have you ever seen one in "A" school bus or any bus for that matter? have you ever seen one in a rv? i garuntee you havent! but ive seen a cummins 5.9 isb (same motor crated by my dodge truck) in every single application listed above plus some more

G why don't we just call the DURAMAX, a DURA-KING. there is no dout that FORD powerchokes are over estimated by many diesel enthusiasts. But Me I personally like my Cummins I don't know where u get "CUMMINGS". Let me know where u can get one of those. Straight sixes are what diesels should sound like. V engines sound like gasers and they are loud and annoying. I think we all know what the v in v8 stands for. STRAIGHT 6 CUMMINS 4 LIFE.
Hold my beer while I smoke this DEERE! IH 4 life!

i have seen the T444E in some school buses but they are gutless as hell and worthless rated @ 150 hp. And yes i dont think cat is going to make a engine for light duty applications like a f-350. If someone was hell bent on putting a cat motor in a super dooty they might be able to fit a CAT 3126B in there but why ?

I really a dodge fan and my father is a chevy fan both are good work trucks hands down but ford really droped the ball when they desided to go to a 6.0 does anybody remember head gaskets and what about the new twin turbos. But they can shoot flames out of the exhuast. I don't remember any chevys or dodges having that problem

Well it's about time GM put of a diesel worth a damn. remembe the old 6.2 and 6.5 diesels, sluggish as hell, well ive heard alot of good things about the duramax, personally, the only thing i like is the tranny, but im a dodge guy personally. I have a 02 ram 2500 quad cab long bed 4x4, with the 5.9 6-CYLINDER diesel, not the v8 diesel, with the 5speed allison tranny in it, and a 1-ton ford front axle. I have gone bumper-to-bumper with fords, chevys, and a few dodges, and have never been beatin, that says something. but, id rather be cummin than strokin, later.
