I have an 07 with 3:73's and 35" tires. I get about 8 mpg pulling my toy hauler. I've been told that if i change my gears to 4:11's that my mpg will increase because of the tire size. Can anyone clarify this for me?
Thanks

i wouldnt do it 3:73 is a good all around gear unless you are towing that trailer every weekend. and the 4:10 gear is gonna hurt your mileage when you are just driving around empty due to the higher rpm's you will be running. dont get me wrong the 4:10's would make it pull a little better but i wouldnt see it making enough diiference to fit the bill of having to get both axles regeared(assuming you truck is 4 wheel drive). im running 35's on my truck as well and pull a 32' fifth wheel and i get 10-12 mpg with mine as long as im not pouring the coals to it goin up a big hill or something. you should just llok into a tuner, good 4" turbo back ex. and air intake that would help you out a lot. and as far as the guy claiming 25-27 hiway im goina have to throw the B.S. card id have to see that one to believe it.

Yea. That's what I thought. I gotta get the tuner and air for sure. I would be estatic at 10 to 12 mpg. I usually run north up towards Denali so there are a few hills to climb so that hurts a little.
Thanks for the quick reply!

thats still pretty decent mileage considering where you live and how much traffic is down there

Yeah, gun, that's a lot better than what I'm hearing from these 6.4 owners. Those things guzzle like there's no tomorrow, from everyone I've heard from.
