ya my 2000 had 120 some odd thousand and it still got good mileage. but it is kinda weird how everyone is so quick to smash the new ford when they only have like 4k miles on them. my 06 is my first "NEW" truck so i dont have much grounds here but a lot of people i know get new trucks all the time and they say there mileage is schit till they hit 10-20K. another thing is how many people actually calculate the MPG the old way. after filling up because the ford computer calculates if you are driving or sitting at a stop lite, it doesnt stop if you stop like the dodge and gm units do. and unless you drive off the lot in a used truck with a couple thousand miles on it you probly arent going to get the top mileage out of it!!

I had to put 15,000 on my duramax before it started to get good mileage and now it'll crack off consistant 17mpg trips but the Cummins is still the top dog. The last time i filled it up i got 18.9mpg and that was mostly town driving!!!! Then the CRD Jeep gets 33mpg in town and i got it to hit 41mpg on the highway which i think is damn good!!!! I hoping that i can get my Cummins to hit 20+mpg and still put down 700+horse at the wheels. I bought another set of stock wheels and put 265 highway tire to see if i cant hit the 20+ mark

What!?!? That's insane mileage with the Jeep. You runnin' propane or something? I thought the EPA ratings on the Liberty were 19/26. I believe it with the Cummins.

Ordered the predator tuner today. looking for an air system. After going 100 miles on 14 gallons (7mpg)this weekend, decided it was time to do something. Factor that in with using 30 gallons for the 4 wheelers and fuel is more than my frickin truck payment! LOL.

Any recomendations on an air intake? Looking at the banks system.

i would stay away from banks products id go with afe and put the money you save in your fuel tank!!!!!!  the afe dry is probly the best air filter/ intake you can buy for the 6.0. and dont forget with the addition of the tuner you should upgrade your exhaust to atleast 4" turbo back. to help keep your egts as low as possible. and if you live in a state where there is no emissions checks. ACCIDENTALLY forget to put yuor cat back on and pipe through it.

that will help you out on some mileage. i dont know what you have done to your truck if anything. but a 4"turbo back ex. and good intake will make that tuner more efficient if yuo can afford to spend the money. but it will pay itself off pretty fast being that diesel is pushing 5.00

thanks for the input i got a k and n on it right now but i plan on getting the afe stage 2 i got plenty of power for what i need i just want to get a little better mileage as this is my daily driver i was also curious about 5 inch exhaust my buddy put it on his 01 with the 7.3 but other than that its stock. from reading stuff on this site it seemed to be overkill to me but he insisted a buddy told him it would be ok i thought 5 inch was supposed to be for like 550 horse and he would need a lot more than exhaust to get anything out of it
