Up here in B.C. Canada propane powered cars and trucks are as common as gas pots. Propane is cheap and your motor will last forever as long as you have hardened valve seats. You can pull a valve cover at 100,000 and it will look like the motor had never been fired.

There's plenty of conversions out there to convert a gasser to propane. Here's a link: http://www.gotpropane.com/p1.html. Many county and city vehicle pools run on propane cause it's cleaner and easier on the vehicles than gas.

There are some systems that are better than others. I know the dual fuel systems are problem plaged. Propane only seems to work better. Gas here in B.C. just hit $4.80 a U.S gallon today....Holly Crap!!!!

its easy to run a carborated engine off propane all you need is a propane tank a regulator and a propane carb most older fuel injected pickups can run just fine off of it the systems just get more complicated i used to have a 85 chevy s-10 with a 383 stroker 10-1 compression that i ran off on 4 barrel propane carb one 4 barrel propane carb will support up to 550 hp since propane is such high octane

At the lumberyard I used to work at, we had an '83 Chevy 1-ton that ran gas and propane. It had 320,000 miles on it when I quit. It actually pulled pretty good with the propane as well, but sometimes when you'd switch it from gas to LP it would knock for a little bit before it'd get going good. That might've just had to do with how old the engine was though.

the reason the truck knocked and ran like *** is because it happened probably when you ran on propane for good while and switched to gas when you went from 100+ octane fuel to 87 octane gas it freaked the engine out and ran like *** for awhile because it was so used to the propane

You're probably right. I always have to laugh when I think of that truck because when I first found out that it could run on propane, this was when I was 11 mind you, I was astonished that propane could run a truck and a barbeque grill too. I thought they were all crazy. How the world surprises us, huh? I think they had the propane taken off that truck when they had it overhauled though. It was definitely one beast of a truck, and still is I'm sure.
