Im realizing something now. it is that every day i come on this site and i start to like dodge more and more. just today i got a huge boost on my dodge liking.
i was watching some videos dogde vs ford strapped together... the dodge won in all 6 of the videos... the ford broke its drive shaft in 3 of the videos. that is not looking good for ford... every time i drive my cummins i just bought... i like it more and more. it souds aweseome and has desent power. i am loving dodge more and more thatnks to you guys... i used to hate both dodge and chevy now i like dodge almost more then ford... i hate to say it but when i finish my job i might retire the old 04 6.0L and go with one of the cummins trucks.
that is one of the hardest things i have said in a long time... but i hate to realize it but dodge is better then ford... i never noticed that.
i am glad i came on this site... you guys have made me dislike the pickup i have lover for 35 years... dont get me wrong the 6.0L is still one *** of a puller but i think with the wright setup the cummins will run with it and it will definetly outlast it...
what i just said all of that is a huge thing... i have never said anything like that in my life...
bottom line is im going to start driving my loud 24v way more often. and just use the 6.0L for pulling for now.
who nows i might just retire my old 6.0L sooner then i think.
like i said the more i think about it the more i think a cummins is best for me...
i give you guys alot of credit becasue if it wasnt for you guys i would of never bought that cummins of mine that i drive now. im glad you guys helped me relize i have been wrong for a long long time.

Shan-It must be hard to say and admit. I have to tip my hat to you and give you respect. I was in a somewhat similar situation. I had a 2001 Dodge 1500 with gas power 5.9 and for years I swore up and down I would never buy a diesel. I drive diesel heavy equipment every day. Why would I want to have my personal vehicle be a diesel too? Is what I would say. That is.....until.....I drove a Dodge with the cummins. After that I had to own one. Finally got one in my 2005 3500 and can't imagine EVER going back to gasoline. I tell you I had to eat so much crow with all of my friends I thought I might grow wings. In the end it was worth it. Good luck to you and I hope that you continue to enjoy your cummins!

o i will and i am desiding if i should trade my 6.0L ford for one of those awesome cummins. well no i will probably keep it just for pulling stuff because i love the way it pulls. but sooner or later i will endup having one for my daily driver. yes my first pickup was a ford f150 and it was gas. i will never go back to gas either. the only gas i will ever have is a muscle car preferably a 1969 boss 429 mustang or shelby mustang and that would be awesome but i cant afford (yet) to drop 150,000 into one from barett jackson when i am able to do that i will have filled my life goals and i will probably not buy anything more... just save up my money for retirement.
well guys i cant thank you enough for changing my mind on the pickups. i will always look back to this site when im older sitting in my dodge and say god i cant thank them enough... i am really glad that you guys made my stubern self realize how good the dodges are... whatever i said to you guys in the previous theads. i take it all back... i mean all the stuff i said about how crappy dodges are. im sry i dissed you guys like that and i hope you will forgive me.
thank you agine... you guys are like my second familey.
oooooo i cant wait till i get this job done so i can afford to go to barrett jackson and get myself something i really want and have wanted for a long time. i just got the contract a couple days ago so i wont be on here much after this week is over.
thanks agine. and i will see you guys l8tr

Well Shan, I can't say I would blame you for letting go of that Ford, but you should do yourself a big favor and at least drive the Duramax. I am not knocking the Cummins, but rather urging you to experience power, comfort, pulling power and fuel economy in one package. If you are a hard-core mudder, the Dodge is the truck that will be for you. An LB7 or LBZ is the way to go. I work on Fords daily and cannot bring myself to like anything about the 6.0 or the tire-wearing front ends. In all my 4 Dmax's, I've had 2 injectors (03)that went out and NOT 1 problem with my LBZ.

well bentwrench to tell you the truth if i dont like the sound of the motor i am not going to like the pickup... the d-max looks like it runs good and sounds like it... but a real diesel sound is the sound that comes from older dodges and fords. the d-max might not be weak but it sounds week and stupid i think... it might be a exceptional pickup but i hate the sound of them...
hey guys just today my pickup was akting up would idel wierd and it had absolutly no power... i mean i couldent even get it past 60mph 0-30mph time today was about 18 seconds and that was floored... im thinking and hoping that it is just the fuel filter... hasent been changed in about 20000 miles... what do you mean tire wearing front ends... i got 65000 out of my first pair of tires and they had a load on them 70% of the time... so needless to say i had no other choice but to pull my camper home with the dodge... (((good thing i had to tools to trasfer the hitch))) it did not to to bad for stock but on every hill she would slow down a little... im not impressed with the high end trq of the dodges but other then that it is an awesome truck...
2 days ago my wifes pickup the 6.0L pulled my 332 john deere skid steer home... it weighs about 11000lbs and the trailer weighd about 4000 and the fuel tank and steel i had equaled probably 3000 so that equals 17000-18000 aprox...
i came to a hill and there was a d-max in front of me and he had about a 30ft camper... it was a pretty good sized one prly weighd about 16000 or so... but anyway i pulled out and floored it on a hill that was about 2 miles long but not to steep... i pulled out and i dident quite have it floored but i seen him pull away just a littl so i gave her full throttle and we were pretty close untill i shifted out of 4th and went into 5th then i took him over and passed him like he was standing still.....
that same day i found out that both the of my 6.0L have 6 gears... it skips 5th gear when you dont got a load becasue the governor says we dont need that gear so it just skips it i never noticed it untill i shifted the pickup manually by going 1 2 3 then od on the b i t c h handel... it took the 5th one when you have a load... i put it in 3rd and at 3500 rpms i was going 55... then when i was pulling and felt it shift down twice... i was in 4th then and i was at 3500 and i was doing 70... then i put to and to together and found out then that my pickups have 6 gears... but they only use 5 when you dont have a load... it was pretty cool i thought... i always thought they was stricktly 5 speed. but they aint...

Dont Agree how many times are you gonna pass somebody going 0-20 mph (low end) now high end 50-90+ If you want me start recording myself beat dodges pulling identical RVs on the highwy (high end) I will but dont think I need to. Cummins owners ask urself how many times u couldnt pass the the vehicle in front of you on the hiwy bcause truck didnt have enuff uuummpphh. Dont get me wrong low end is important----not as important as high end.

What? Belive it or not but some diesel owners could care less who passes them. There on holidays and are in no hurry. I've passed sport bikes with 13,000lbs hanging off the back of my Dodge, does that mean it's faster than a sport bike ...no I don't think so, he just wasn't in to racing a RV. Passing Fords,GM and other Dodges is a regular thing for me because I like to give er. My Cummins has plenty of high end uuummmppphhh and I have never had any problems passing the vehicle in front of me.

anybody who says a cummins dosent have what it takes hasn't driven one. or at least comparable to their truck. ok yeah it would be easy to say that this stock 235hp 99 ram doesnt have the top end that my 6.0 powerstroke has, but compare a common rail cummins to a 6.0 powerstroke would be something else. but you are definetly right about the low end grunt, that 235hp cummins has more horsepower and torque than that p.o.s. 325hp 6.0powerstroke and duramax until about 2500 rpm. i saw that in a Diesel World magazine where they stuck all three on a dyno(2001 235hp cummins, duramax lly, and 6.0 powerjoke)

i read in a magazine i forget which one but they ran all three engines cummins 5.9, ford 7.3, and duramax 6.6. they ran them all at WOT to see how long they would last. the times are burnt into my head because i was amazed and it is the reason why i have a cummins. the ford 7.3 at WOT ran for 22.3 hours the cummins ran for 25 hours and the duramax ran for 2.3 hours

That pretty much says it all doesn't it. I'll bet it was the aluminum clyinder heads on the D-max that gave out. When push comes to shove I don't think they can take it. I would have liked to have seen how a 6.0 would have done.
