how can you talk all that *** about the dodge truck? I only have about 200k on my 12v but nothing on the truck has gone wrong except a snap ring poping off in the t-case, and a starter. I have no idea how many miles are on my old 6.9 but its parked because the front end is about to fall out from under the truck and it would be more expensive to fix than what that p.o.s. ford is worth. not to mention all the problems i had with the hydraulic clutch system.

*** I don't think i have ever seen a superduty in the million mile club!!!

My '01 Dodge only has 112K on it, but it hasn't been flawless.  I had to replace the injection pump a few miles ago.  The reason I bought a Dodge is because I wanted a truck, not a big car like the GMs and Fords.  If they would focus on the powertrain a little more instead of how cushy they can make the interior, maybe I would own a Duramax, but never a Ford.

Does you really think everybody's experience with a truck will be the same? That every PS or Dmax or Cummins will have the same problems?. buying a truck is a lot like playing in the lottery. You don't know how good of a choice you made until after you've bought the ticket. So while Joe over here might have owned a PS that was an absolute peice of junk that everything broke on (Engine AND truck mind you)while Jack might have had one that worked flawlessly. Same thing with the Dodges. Same thing with the Duramaxes. Same thing with any vehicle for that matter.
So while you can make arguments based on your experiences, so can anybody else because everybody has different experiences. The only thing those arguements are based on is that fact that somehow your experiences and your judgement is better than the other guys.
Using the people that you work with or people in a general area doesn't count either. It is too small of a test group against how many thousands of each truck that is out there.
With that being said, my opinion is, buy for looks or buy for upgradeability or buy for whatever reasons you want to. But the fact remains that all Auto makers do some things exceptionally well. And all of them do things that make people scratch their heads and go "What were they thinking?". The fact of the matter is buy the brand that is closest to what you want and then upgrade it to meet exactly that. Thats why there is an aftermarket.

*** Currently in my family we have 2 Dodge diesels and 2 Ford diesels and all of them have been on the whole dependable. I've never owned a Dmax or any GM diesel for that matter so I my experience with them is very limited.

good point.......people tend to blow things out of proportion also, in their interest......so....if one were to settle this you allow the consumer to decide and how do you accurately measure the consumer.....by the amount of products sold......and how much of which product the consumer chooses most....given that all products are available in all consumer markets.......

bottom line...........WHO SELLS THE MOST???????????????........you answer that question and you discover for yourself who has the best product without any bias.......you can come back on that with production capabilities.....but if a product is hot.....what happens?......the manufacturer produces more until they find the spot where supply and demand make it most profitable for them to continue that product........and demand is driven solely by.......WHO??????.....the consumer........so if the consumer (which is us, by the way) consistently chooses one brand of truck over the other.....then that manufacturer gains a higher market share which the other two find it tough to compete in unless they produce a product that as at least the same in quality and value, if not better

you want to know the best truck???????????

WHO SELLS THE MOST???????????????

dont gimmie some "so and so sells their trucks cheaper"......im not stupid and that makes no sense when you understand profitability and market share.....if a division of a company is not profitable......it does not exist long........and basically all manufacturing costs in the US or for US companys should be relatively close due to the simple competitiveness of the market

I don't see why it really matters anyways!!!  I own an '03 Dodge Cummins and I love it, it's my first diesel truck and I wouldn't trade it for anything.  If you ask me everyone likes a different brand of truck and if you drive that truck more likely than not you will defend it to the death...so I say don't bash on what everyone else drives, you should admire the fact that they love their oil burner just like you love yours!!!  I've seen Ford's and Chevy's that are sweet rigs like my Dodge.

if it weren't for the IFS on chevys, they would hands down be one the greatest trucks on earth, cause a duramax and allison is hard to beat. And who cares about cab space i'm 6'2 i fit just fine in my 06!

There is a lot I learned in this line business, no matter how much you know or how much you think you know, it is some times best just to shut your mouth and listen to what other people’s opinions are and accept what there opinion is on their own personal experiences.

I know an learned a lot form that simple phrase and I’ll tell you what it has put character in me.

So please don’t argue it is just an opinion not a fact.

Let the good coal roll
Warning !!!! I have an opinion and I am not afraid to use it !!!!!!

Quick little comment to "SoonerStroker" about his comment on the 5th.
First off. The Chevy Silverado 3500's newest Vortec 6.0L V8 engine has 353 hp @ 5400 rpmalong with just 625 lb.-ft. of torque @ 2600 rpm. While Fords new 6.4L Powerstroke Diesel engine puts out 350 hp and 650 lb.-ft of torque with the ability to reach maximum torque at just 2200 rpm, along with a payload of 6, 230 lb.s. So yes, Chevey can say that they have more hp (3) but it will be out towed any day.

Compare the same grade of any Chevy trucks interior in the past several years to Fords and in no way, shape or form can you tell me Chevy is more of a luxury truck. Not to mention the fact that ford has the quietest and one of the cleanest diesel engines ever produced, that can start in under 2 seconds in -22 degree weather. Struggeling with a truck at all is in no way luxurious to me.

I have the 2008 F350 Superduty and one of my best buddies has the 08 silverado 3500...even he (a diehard Chevy man) admits the fact that pulling 18.000 lb.s is a bit of a struggle off the start and throughout the drive, constantly haveing to have 2 hands on the wheel; while my truck can pull
18, 000 lb.s off from a start like i am pulling nothing, and can cruse at 85 mph like theres nothing behind me.

And im not to forget the fact that GMC and Chevy's newly 're-designed' trucks greatly resemble Fords trucks...without a doubt.

Hawhat...you must be realatively new to the diesel world, I can tell by the way you talk about how the newer, cleaner, diesels are better.  A true oil burner lover likes a rig that smokes and sounds like a peterbuilt!!!  My 5.9 cummins would run circles around your 6.4 Powerjoke in the durability of the engine, people like you won't drive your truck 300,000 miles plus because you have to have the newest thing out there...new ain't always better!

If you're pulling 18,000 lbs at 85mph, kindly flash your lights when you are coming up behind me so I can get the heII off the road. No offense, but I don't want to be anywhere near you when that load gets away from ya.

I have a ford & a dodge diesel, both are good trucks, listening to some of you guys trashing the other "manufacturers" is like listening to a bunch of kids who wished they could change there own diapers, i the trucks does the work, then its good, IMO, I've been driving fords, chevys, & dodges for over 30 yrs, & we beat the *** out of every vehicle, & they all preform good, all are 1 tons, diesels, & 4wd.  Try getting your hands dirty boys for a living.  My trucks make my living, on construction sites, day in, day out.
