I have a 2003 f350 crew cab 4wd dually with a 2004 6.0 in it. It weighs in at 8000# with me in it and a full tank and I'm getting 16-17mpg hwy (unloaded) if I keep it at 65. I want to start with a tuner to get higher mileage. I'm leaning towards the Granitelli GMS because they guarantee 3+mpg. Any suggestions out there for a tuner with good fuel economy numbers?

A tuner alone won't get you better MPG, you need the whole package of Intake and Exhaust too. A tuner alone is going to cost you MPG, unless it is set to de-fuel, most tuners just add more fuel, which with out the air to go with it equals worse fuel economy.
As soon as they offer a Ranger with a Diesel in America, I'll be the idiot camping out in front of the Ford Dealer!

Well aren't there programers that can be set to Fuel Economy.  Maybe I am getting my termonolgy mixed up on things, but My friends cousin's truck I belive has like a sitting for Performance, Fuel economy, and towing so I have been told.  Maybe that is not a tunner, but that is what they called it. Just wondering if my termonlgy is correct?

hey i will tell that just the tuner will 2 add mpg...    on my wifes pickup i put just a 115hp dr.performance chip... the mpg went from 16 on the highway at 70 to 19.7 on the highway at 70. yes it will decrease it if you are constantly hard on it. if you are hard on it alot yes it will decrease.     by the way my wifes pickup is a 2004 4x4 6.0L 4 door short box f250.   3.7mpg better in 75000 miles that $700 chip has payed for itself many times over.
were pissin up a rope guys!!!

I have a 2005FORD Excursion,40Kmiles,AFE Intake,4" Magnaflow exhaust,BANKS Elbow and tube "from "Intercooler. Wanted an allaround driver and lite tower(<7,500#). After looking around I went with the SCT SF, now the 9415 model????? Alot of advice but I never really found any information saying, what was the best one. Did a Dyno test after the PCM was flashed, and I barely beat the stock HP& Torque specs from FORD. Now,when you drive it there is a noticeable change. I am currently working on a HP Oil sytem problem/Injector system problem? Getting the truck back today with  2 NEW INJECTORS and an EGR VALVE. Not sure how that caused a very low idle (approx. 400rpm) and no throttle UP  response. But that is what they said was wrong, and it was covered under the warrenty. Have to say even with the problem(if it did effect HP/TORQUE--MPG) there was an inprovement in perceived power ie. acceleration and a documented increase in MPG. Around town it went from 14 to 15mpg, on the HIGHWAY is were it shined, 18 to aroung 20MPG at 65mph. Towing on the HIGHWAY it was around 15+ mpg. I'll followup after I get some miles on the new fixes. Good luck on finding a programmer. I kinda think all the big names are pretty good. Alot depends on how much you put your foot into it. I just wanted to OPTIMIZE the motor and get the best  MPG possible.

OPPS...forget to mention the SCT SF program I used. Decided on the PERFORMANCE program, and a lite foot(ie.low rpm's) would give me the best possible economy. I tried the STREET program, and it didn't vary from the PERFORMANCE program from what I could see and feel. I ran both programs on the Dyno, and they were pretty much the same in TORQUE/HP with the PERFORMANCE program having a 9HP advantage and 14ft-lbs of torque over the STREET program. Hope this helps.Jim

I have a 2005 Dodge Ram 4x4 Quad Cab bone stock running 265 Michelins. I get 20.1 around town and the most on the Highway has been 25.3. I dont drive spirited by no means. Rolling off from red lights like I have all day, but right now with the prices pretty much above $4.00 every where I think we all need to keep our foot out of it for now and hope that something changes. Supply and Demand.
