Just a rant.... I have an 05 F-350 Crew cab Dually 4x4 6.0L. I have the Bully Dog Triple Dog downloader with outlook, 5" turbo back exhaust, cold air, and custom injectors. the truck only has 42,000 miles on it. It is mostly used for pulling my horse trailers. in the past 6 months it has been in the shop more than it has been out. replaced injector control mod x2, egr cooler, turbo, oil pump x2, high pressure oil lines, and other random sensors. i cant even pull ANY trailer without it breaking down. and right now it is getting towed to the dealer to get fixed. im at the point where it is starting to affect my busisness and thinking about setting it on fire just so i am done with it. when it runs it runs GREAT, i love it, but it has left me stranded 4 times with the trailer and horses. i wont even take it more than 20 miles from my house now because of the fear of being stranded. i bought the truck to use on long hauls because my low pro freightliner only gets 9mpg and this truck will get 17 loaded. im just at the end of my fuse and ready to get a lawyer. (ford bought back another truck i had with simular problems 2 years ago).

ok sorry just had to rant.....

if you have had that many problems with those p.o.s. 6.0's and wanting a new one, mabey you should look into another brand because i don't think the 6.4's got any better.

The 6.4's did get better... much better...

But... sounds like you need a Cummins! As much as I love Ford, if you business depends on hauling, a trusty Cummins may be what you need!

well just got done talking to the dealership, where to start... high pressure oil pump, warped head, 2 cracked injectors, injector control mod, turbo, egr cooler, and one cylinder running 40% lower than rest. ill know more later on as more work gets done. i agree about the cummins i had a 98 auto 3500 2wd that i had 650,000 miles on it when it was done. i just dont like the way the dodges drive down the road with my trailer. i just hate the chevy interior. i have alot of friends that have the 6.4 and no problems yet. the dealer is going to try and get a new engine but if they cant then this truck will be traded in for another truck whatever it may be. ill keep everyone informed with updates as they come

Some of the 6.0 have problems but it seems that the major problems start coming out when the owner starts adding performance items.  I got a 08 F-450 crew cab duelly 4x4.  The first thing the dealer told me was DO NOT modify the motor in any way for you can flush your warrenty down the toliet.  I know 6 people with 6.0 powerstokes(all stock) and they all have had great luck with them.  I have a business that also relies on a good truck, think STOCK(reliable) over modified(performance)if you need your truck on a daily basis.

I have two F250 with the 6.0 and have yet to have any promblems . I replaced an alternator and a powersteering line. These both are everyday drivers.I have heard that adding performance parts such as programmers due have a major affect. I drive my 04 offroad hard and the promblem was a stress crack on ps line due to I almost rolled it. you might want to look in to upgrading headgaskets and head bolts to start good luck with your truck.

I have a fleet of 6 05's and 2 06's in F550's.  They are all still under 100,000.  1 is on it's third motor cause only got 2000 miles on the last reman.  We have no performance mods and religously maintain them.  So far we have been reimbursed 12 payments from Ford for time lost in these trucks.  Someone needs to get up to the corporate level and fix this ***  They aren't worth a dime to anyone so you are  just stuck with them.  I gaurantee we have gone through a truck box of injectors so far.  Are there engineers realy this stupid?  A common man named Noah built the Arc and engineers built the Titanic.  I guess Ford hired the negineers from the Titanic.  I drive Dodges and only own Fords for there heavy chassis.  At least the 7.3 and the 5.9 can work a 5 day week.  I'm venting too!

It may be time to drop a Cummins into you Ford trucks - as has been done by others.

I'm with nfmisso. Pull that 6.0 and see what the scrap guy will give you for it. Have a look at DE STROKED (on ATS's web site) these guys will throw a common rail Cummins in your Ford for probably less than it would cost to fix that 6.0 again and again. Now you have arguably the best truck/engine combo going.

yeah i agree with bcram, when my 7.3 bites the dust i am gonna get the cummins swap, and really open her up, that in my opinion is going to be a blast! it is so much cheaper to upgrade that 5.9!
