the problem with the 6.0 was ford knew it wasnt going to last they put it in there because the 7.3 couldnt meet emissions and the 6.4 wasnt ready yet. if they had kept going with the 6.0, it woulda been just as reliable as a 7.3. they both use the same basic injection system and they both had the same problems when they first came out but there wasnt nearly as many 7.3's being sold so it wasnt a big deal like the 6.0 was

yeah i was about to say i think the only major problem was the cps, and yeah i can change mine in oh about 5 mins on the side of the highway. most guys who own a 7.3 carry an extra cps in their glovebox.

the 7.3 rivals the cummins for the title of best diesel engine, and if it wasnt for the garbage heui fuel system, the number of 1000 hp powerstrokes would match the number of 1000 hp cummins

yeah the cmp is the only thing that goes bad now but in 94 when they came out they had all kinds of high pressure oil leaks in the first 6 months there were about 8 different part numbers for ipr o rings because they kept leaking and causing no starts but once they got the high pressure oil problems figured out they havent had any problems since

the 6.0 has been the same since day 1 except for changes in the( high pressure system, intake manifold, and a slight injector change) the emissions have not really changed till the 6.4

i looked through my 6.0 book i got from international and there were some other little changes. It says they added a EGR throttle plate but i was under the impression that they removed it, which they probably did and this book just doesnt mention it since its mainly for 03's and 04's

im rode and driven the 6.0's but i guess im not a fan of newer trucks i like my 7.3, my next project for it is to add a set of sd tow mirrors in place of the little vents.
