I've got a 24 valve cummis that i was able to lay hands on. i am currently transplanting it in to a 1970 f-250 4x4. i am a horsepower junky and would really like to install the 12valves mechanical pump system on the 24 valve for maximum intake and exhaust. i know that the front cover and gear set will need to be converted but i haven't had much time to look in to it any further. i was wondering if anyone on tis website might have already completed one of these conversions.

There's a few places that'll help you get it done. Like: Scheids, Piers diesel, just to name a couple off the top of my head.

Modified injectors(lower pop off pressure, but some say a 24V injector will work fine), high pressure lines, a pump, front timing case(where the pump mounts), and modify accelerator. Look in this issue of the magazine, there's a P-pumped 24V in there(May 08, page 78)

you need to get a least 150 horse injectors, because on the 12 valves the external return line from the injectors is bigger, and with the 24v the injector return line is machined into the head and cant flow as much fuel and you pop your injector lines my friend had this problem so that is another part to add to your list

I would like to do the same thing with my 2001 but what about the wiring harness that goes to the injection pump.

if you just wanna go fast, keep the 24v pump and just make sure ur getting good pressure to it and you'll be fine. people that p-pump a 24 valve either have a lot of money or are making a 1000hp truck. its definatly a good idea, id like to do it to my truck, but you gotta be honest with yourself and what your goals are. but if you still wanna go with the p-pump, just take your time and do the research and youll be happy, good luck.
