I've been looking at a lot of the posts regarding the new 6.4L Power Stroke, and those guys are saying they're getting horrible mileage, around the 11-13 mpg average range. I'm wondering if any of you with the LMM are noticing if it's getting much worse mileage than the LBZ or earlier Duramaxes. What's your experience been?

I have heard such things like this from people with newer d-maxes. I talked to a guy with an 05 and he was saying the best he could get with that was 15-16. He also said that he used to have an 03 that got 18-20 so I guess that there is an issue with the newer d-maxes. I myself have an 03 (4" turbo back,S&B, Quadzilla Stealth 2, waste gate check valve, 315/75/16 terra grapplers) and the best to date for me was 21.

I have an 06 DMAX with intake exhaust and stacked chips 3 inck lift with 33s and i'm getting 16-17 as of right now. when i bought it brand new it got 18-19 but the best i saw was 22 pulling a fully loaded 25 foot enclosed trailer down the interstate at 65 mph. i have no idea how this happened and i even did the calculations five or six time to make sure it was right. made me feel good till my next fill up when i only got 15.

I have 06'LBZ reg. cab,6spd.Alli,4"piped,Quad Stealth2 running always on 135hp setpoint,AFE drop in filter stock air box, synthetic oils,265/tires,and this gets me 22 mpg summer and 19 winter casual drive habits. That quadzilla will only do 18 on lower setpoints and stock. The Ford Superduty men are just sick after their new 6.4 only hands them 13 mpg. They are very mad. I don't blame them either. Diesel Place.com has many examples of LMM owners running no DPF,Quadzilla with DPF delete progam option, 110 horse setpoint and reporting 19 to 22 mpg. That is excellent in my book. Time is short for truck buyers. The EPA is coming soon and will take all these Tuners away and we will be back to 5 inline exhaust filters computer monitored and locked closed loop system so owners can't change anything in their trucks engine controls. LMM and Cummins are still nice to run and delete the DPF now the future engines have 4 and more exhaust filters that is so restrictive that engine can't last long with all that back pressure on it. Just my thoughts from lots of reading and other opinions of LMM and LBZ owners. Let it run that is proof from the above examples of the LMMs right now but time is SHORT. The EPA and state lawmakers are after diesel owners with a vengenence and no mercy soon is my guess. I'm keeping my truck a long time and will still get parts for many years as it's before DPF junk laws etc. Later!!!!!!!!!

This is my first diesel, it is 2004 LB7 crewcab long box. I bought it used with 25,000 miles on it. The first owner cranked the torsion bars to fit bigger tires on it. The dealer ship never set it back to stock, but with stock wheels and tires with a 4 inch exhaust I would see 18-20. Then I went with a Banks six gun power pda, Banks cold air intake, Banks big head actuator and a sleek caamper shell and saw no improvement. Currently I have added a PPE boost valve, magnaflow 5 inch turbo back exhaust, and 33x12.50 toyo mt's on weld 18 inch daggers and I only get 13 to 15 miles to the gallon. It doesn't seem like my tuner ever gave me more mileage, just power.

I Have a 07 duramax classic with the LBZ motor I have a PPE economy excelerator tuner a magnaflow 4" turbo back and a K&n drop in filter I get 23 mpg freeway and 18 city (lite footin it) now I hear nothin but bad about k&n be cautious word is that the steel mesh that holds the filter together likes to come apart from the extreme suction our trucks cause my buddy went through 2 turbos until he figured it out!!!

Actually, as far as the newer trucks go, that's not bad. Be glad you don't own a 6.4 Powerstroke! I routinely hear about those things getting in 11-14 range.

Is it just me, or does it seem like diesels get better fuel economy once they get broken in a little? Any of you guys noticed that?
