I have a new GMC 2500HD with duramax and I changed out the tiny 10 ply tires and rims to some that worked better in the areas I drive in. Now the problem starts, the old tires ran 60 to 80 lbs of air the new ones max at 50 lbs. I reset the location in the truck computer for the tire pressure monitor, but can't change the pressure parameters to 50 lbs. The check tire light is always on.Dealer is no help yet. Every new GM truck I see has larger tires. does anyone have any info on this. thanks in advance PMMAX

you might want to call superlift. this is only a guess, but they were on top of the speedo calibration thing right away. after all their products are designed to run bigger tires. again just a guess but they might have some insight.

There was a long thread about this on another forum. It turns out that the dealer can adjust the Tire Pressure Monitor System to differing pressure levels. It is not something that you can do yourself.
Some people were able to get their dealers to do it, and some were not.
With my truck the fronts were set at 60 and the back at 80 when I got it. I had the dealer lower the backs to 60. So now I can run my tires anywere from 50 to 60 without the TPMS warning going off.

Yep. I can vouch for that too.. worked at chevy dealership for past 3 years and you have to have the dealership recalibrate it. If they say they can't or don't know how to it take your buisness elsewhere because your probably dealing with a dealership who's techs have a severe lack of training.

I took my 08 2500HD to the GMC dealer in San Diego (Mission Valley) - had it towed, actually, with a dead battery - and the person writing my service order up was surprised that I had a battery problem: she thought diesels had glow plugs. They probably couldn't fix the TP issue either.

Uh i think you are mistaken for a gas job because i know for a fact that the Duramax has glow plugs.... That has nothing to do with a dead battery. Plus the Duramax comes with two so if one fails in theroy its supposed to charge the other.

I you go to the dealership they can reset the tpms system. If they don't know how, call another dealer ship. I now for a fact that the dealerships can and will reset the tmps system. You should be running 10ply tires on it anyway. The 6ply tires you put on are not strong enough for the weight of the truck.

how did glow plugs get involved in a tire pressure system conversation. not to mention who would get a truck towed to the dealer with a dead battery that is one of the funniest things ive heard in a long time.

when you go to the dealer ask to talk to the front end tech, tell him whats going on and he will be the one to fix your prob.
