Hey guys wat up, I trying to come up with what i would need to build my dream truck, 73-87 chevy crew cab 3500 srw longbed 4x4 truck with a cummins 600 series motor and 6 speed nv5600 stick and np205 . What is needed to swap in a modern 24v cummins into an older chevy truck, i know about the motormounts and custom crossmembers but what else, i know the newer cummins are packed with electronics which i know are going to be hassle but i have to have it, i wont settle for 12v and a duramax swap will probabley be even more complicated and not a durable a cummins. So basically what im asking is everything anybody done this kind of swap into older chevy?
My dream truck:78 chevrolet K30 crew cab longbed, srw with d60, 14 bolt, nv4500, np205 and a 600 series cummins 5.9 rolling on 37 inc tires!!! A solid axle chevy with a cummins, it just dosn't get better then this. My real truck: 2004.5 Dogde Ram 3500 crew cab longbed 4x4, 5.9 cummins of course! All stock sadly Blowin smoke of course!!

I couldn't give you a complete run-down of all the parts you'd need, but it's definitely been done before. Here's a story on a swap into an '88-'98, but some of the info might be helpful to you:

Wow thanks that aritcle really helped but it just assured me how complicated the wiring process of the swap for my truck will be since i want an 04.5 and newer cummins.

It should be fairly easy. Even tho the newer cummins have alot more electronics than the older ones they still have alot less than ford or chevy. If im not mistaken all the engine controls are mounted right to the cummins. Keep us informed. We share the same dream.
