Look under the POWERSTROKE forum, you'll find some help there. Also, can't go wrong with a Bank's system. I had one on my 96 and it turned into a demon.

There's all kinds of stuff out there for the mid nineties 7.3. Check out They have everything intakes, chips, and exhausts for the first generation Power Strokes.

Exhaust! Take a look at the down pipe where it bends at the point the firewall meets the floor, it's almost crimped closed.  A nice intake won't hurt either. Gauges! If you go for a reprogrammer, keep an eye on the pyro, I've seen 1600 on these trucks because their not intercooled. A aftermarket intercooler will help keep the pyro where it should be and give you more HP. You won't break any records but it will wake that 7.3 up and put a smile on your face.

def go look at the powerstroke forum. you wont find much here dealing with them. there isn't anything in common between the two motors other than displacement.

you dont need and intercooler unless your gonna be running way high hp like past 400, best thing to do is a turbo back exhaust my cost $350 at hallas performance, next shift kit then a dp tuner chip then bigger injectors, after those steps your looking at about 300hp and like 500tq, give or take some. if money is tight just do the exhaust first, i dumped mine out before the right rear tire (yes its loud) the stock downpipe looks like a vacum bag and most pictures dont show exactly how flat it is till you get it out.
1997 f-250 7.3 powerstroke. just another old truck making big power hahaha
