i am not sure but i was thinking that it might be cool to put a duramax or something in a old impala(or a full framed car) i know that i would have to upgrade preety much every thing. but has some one already done something of that nature. and if so what did you have to do and was it worth it?

hey you are insane. but I f you can pull it off you've got my respect. It would be nice to see a jet black camaro stuffed with a duramax. if it can fit a 572 it might accomadate a duramax. but you would defenitly need way stronger axels to handle all the tourque of a chipped duramax. you could buy a year one crate camaro so you dont have to wrastele with an older car with fried harnesses and all that junk. I think it would be worth it to see it spank an old hemi cuda.

I think it is an awesome idea. I'm currently trying to track down a 53 Ford I had in highschool and I would like to drop a 12V 5.9L Cummins in. It was a sweet looking truck, now if I could pull some real power out of it and have fun tinkering around with the powerplant.
Nothing like pulling 500+HP 1100+TQ out of raked 53 ford. I think that would take the cake at any old truck/car show.

Why and how? instead of the 6.2 try the new audi Q7 diesel with 500 horse and 700 twistys. and its light enough for a vette.

i didn't say he should put a 6.2 in a vette.
he asked if he could put a big block diesel motor in a car and i just gave him something to think about and hope for.

They actualy did that on Pimp My Ride. It was awesome. Plus they ran it on bio-diesel. With all the other upgrades they got 800+ horses out of it. You can probably still check it out on MTV.com or pimpmyride.com. That is what got me interested in swapping to diesel.

Unfortunately, this ain't my car (i wish!) Go to http://www.18to1.com. They have most of the info there. You can also try to find the November 2007 issue of Diesel Power Mag. They did an article on this awesome car.

the 6.2 and the 6.5 is a direct bolt in for any sbc or bbc power car.... even the factory exhaust matches.
with the additon of a banks or ats turbo it makes an ecconomical very strong runner.
I've swapped em into some delta 88's and a couple impalas.
this one runs low 15's in the 1/4 in a 86 chev extra cab dually
just going putt putt

Tech Editor Jason Sands is supposedly working on some diesel swaps into some older muscle cars. Mudb8, I was always wondering about the 6.2/6.5 swaps into the 88s, Caprices, etc. Seems like that'd be a nice pkg. especially with a turbo!
