teamduramax: so I got the truck back today and the verdict was that they couldn't find any problem. I drove it home, which was about 30 miles, plenty of time for it to warm up. I stopped and started it a couple of times to test it out and now it doesn't seem to have a problem. I'll give it a couple of days of driving and see what happens. Thanks for the info.
Hard starts are a part of the special policy on the injectors. Mine would start just fine cold, no power loss, but would not start when hot. Had to let it cool. They ripped you off on the pump. IMHO, you have at least one injector bad, and others going. What tests did they run? Try searching on the Dieselplace for "special policy" "hard starts" "injectors" and read, read, read.

i have a 07 d-max. it lost its prime and sence then its been hard to start. i was changing the fuel filter, put a new fuel filter on it. it was even harder to start. it was losing prime at the bottom of the fuel filter. if you take the passenger side wheel gard, that gards your engine. you can git to the top of it and bottom. check the top of the prime for the fuel filter vent valve. it has a o-ring. the bottom has alot of o-rings. you might want to check that.

? possible it could be an air leak in a fuel line or a bad pump in the tank...

Well I'm back at the dealer with my truck. New symtoms are low oil pressure at idle, only 25# at high rpm's, oil coming out of the blow tube, smoke out of the exaust while towing. Still have old symtoms: delayed and hard starts, loss of power upon acceleration(only sometimes). And when I changed the oil I got 5 gallons of diesel/oil in the catch pan instead of the 2.5 gal. capacity of oil the truck holds. Quest. ? How often(in miles) should the fuel filter be changed and will that cause all of the symtoms?

Fuel in your oil is a sign of blown injectors. The Duramax has been known to devour injectors for some reason. Sounds like you'll need them all replaced.

That is exactly what I thought. But what do you do when the diesel mechanic at the dealership tells you there is nothing wrong with the injectors, that all the readings come back within tolerence?

There is only one way to get diesel in your crankcase, bro, and thats from the injectors. GM knows about it, and you'll end up with remanufactured injectors.
Take your truck to a different dealer or find a diesel shop to do the work. It's horribly obvious this one either has no clue or they don't have a diesel tech.
