DuramaxBen: Well you can have your Powerjoke.I still would take a Dmax over any other Brand Dodge Sucks with an auto and Ford just lacks power.
Okay, so if the Ford Powerstroke lacks power, then how many 18,000 lb + loads has a Duramax diesel pulled up to 60 mph? A stock Ford (7.3 liter) with a 4 speed automatic outpulling a Duramax with a six speed... interesting for a truck that is supposed to lack power. BTW... I don't just say that my truck can pull 18,000lbs in addition to a 2000lb bale bed, I do it. I have done it without any sweat. I wonder how much of the 650 lb/ft of torque in the Duramaxes is actually being made . The 7.3 Powerstroke was rated at only 515 lb/ft. It makes you wonder don't it. Ben, do us all a favor, quit quoting numbers that have been proven to be fake, because you can quote all the numbers in the world, but my powerstroke has pulled even more than your precious Duramax is even capable of .

DuramaxBen: Which of the 2 automatics would you have if you were going to pull with? I need to know as I am curious to see what you guys think and PLEASE BACK THEM UP WITH WEBSITES!I want to know what the maximum torque ratings are for each and which is more reliable when left on a stock truck. Thanks
here we go again, more crap being started by benny the jacka**!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Ben just shut up for the sake of this magazine and everyone who reads it.
1999 Dodge Ram 2500 4x4 Cummins 24 valve, 5spd with south bend 550hp+ clutch, 150 horse injectors, Fram Boost intake(for now), Edge Juice with attitude, 150 gph fass fuel pump and much more, all together 450 dyno proven HP and 1170 ft lbs. DPMAG May Ride of the Month

And as an oh, by the way... The Dodge has the highest real world towing capacity. I got a friend that hauls large square bales for a living, loaded onto a 40 ft flatbed, pulls it no problem. (Oh by the way, that truck is a mega-cab)

and what real world experience do you have BEN? you defend those who make points and share experience, but you have none to make yourself. get your nose out of the magazine and away from the keyboard, get a truck, pull some loads, kill a couple trucks, and then come back when you dont have a numbers-only information bias. E2 is the voice of reason here. HE HAD a dmax, it ate 3 tranny's, so he bought a cummins, did more mods to it, and it is holding up better. HE HAS the experience, and he is making a point. you dont have any experience, so dont talk like you are the worlds foremost authority on diesel pickups.

If I am not mistaken (I generally have a real good memory), E2, your truck has the 4 speed automatic in it, doesn't it? Isn't that tranny stock, also?

Face it even this magazine says and knows the Duramax is the strongest engine. So if you don't like that leave the website and quit reading the magazine. Just because it tells the truth.

Yea i have the 48re (unfortunatly) i wish i had the 6 speed tho. The trans is stock for now but in late march i should have a new one. I recently took the Bully Dogg programmer off my truck because with that and the Edge the tranny was startin to slip and i dont want it to go tits up and leave me without a truck.

Also you always know when an auto is startin to go bad because it starts shiftin really good. I got quite a bit saved and I'm takin it easy on the truck. I know a kid that has a 2001 Cummins and his 47re has been goin out since 2005 and he is just been putsing around with it and its held so far but i think soon its goona die.

BEN SHUT UP! Sorry had to get that out there. Ok as for whether or not the Duramax Allison can pull more than 18,000lbs past 60mph, absolutely. My uncles 01 D/A 90HP over and STOCK trans, consistently day in and day out from spring to fall pulls as much as 25,000lbs trailer weight, up to 75 80mph if you want, on a stock trans. However it was replaced just over 100,000miles because the dealership, conviently didnt get external trans filter sealed on its 100,000 mile flush, the trans over heated and just essential burnt up.
Now Im not advocating that the allison will hold more than ford or dodge's trannys once theire modded, I am an example to myself Im pushin 500 at the crank in mine, with a jr shift kit and efi live tuning in the trans and i have to baby my 4-5. Its weak and it sucks but daily driving around with my "stock" tune its flawless.
I have alot of drive time in an 02 7.3 smoke its proly the best smoker i have driven by far, but when you get in it after driving my truck it leaves alot to be desired when it comes to power, torque, and the tranny. Basicly your always waiting on it to respond. (its 65HP over too, with an intake as well)
I have also driven and 05 common rail cumma long, with a diablo sport tuner. its a powerful truck there is no doubt about it. but everytime I let my foot of the throttle i felt like i had to go grabbing the brakes cause it felt like it was launching forward, (i assume that more or less it goes to "N" when you let out, but I donno) I drive it for a while and just was never comfortable with the trans, I felt like i was kinda waiting on it as well, but then at times i felt like it shifted to soon, and didnt let the cummins hit is powerband first.
With all honesty, my personal unbiased opinion, for daily driving, even if your gonna tune it up some, the allison is the most comfortable trans you can have.

PS E2 "the voice of reason" I do recall you admitting to me in Benny boys original thread that you did stack tuners on you duramax, putting more through it than any stock trans will hold. And you were aware that the the tranny was going to slip, and that from the factory you knew that it wouldnt hold.
Now youve done the same thing to your "Oh so much better" Dodge and what do you know the stock tranny is slipping again. Dang thats some really incredible reasoning.

RodnCandy you make alot of sense.I admit it I am a major Duramax Diesel fan but I do and will give others a shot just not the Powerstroke as I have had nothing but bad luck with Fords. The only good Ford is a tractor.Yeah I just want a Duramax so I can do some serious pulling and I plan on leaving the truck entirely stock then perhaps adding a 50hp chip to it for mileage.

you plan on leaving it stock then adding a 50 hp chip? thought you said the dmax didnt need a chip? now you say you wanna get it to do some major pulling yet on one thread you said you want it cause your girlfriend like the dmax smoke (even tho its just the same diesel smoke that come from any diesel), then you say you want it cause you wanna make your dad look like an idiot. ben why do you want that truck? i mean really if your gonna tell us you want the truck for one thing stick to that.
1997 f-250 7.3 powerstroke. just another old truck making big power hahaha my lug nuts need more torque then what your honda makes
