I meant I might add one for better fuel economy but basically I'm going to leave the truck stock. The main reason for the Duramax is to prove dad and his friends wrong the Duramax is a stronger truck stock for stock.Plus after being in a Dodge or two I hate Dodge! They cheap out on everything!GM is a true truck company and lets not forget who is the Veteran to the Diesel community GM.If it was not for GM then we still would be driving gassers! So Give a little respect to GM even though the 6.2 and 6.5s were just ok engines.

i wont give any respect to them cause their trucks suck they ride like cars. you never answered my question about what you hauled with that 2003 dmax, or how big the trailer was.
1997 f-250 7.3 powerstroke. just another old truck making big power hahaha my lug nuts need more torque then what your honda makes

Well it was at the Fair so I pulled a 25' Alluminum horsetrailer and it pulled it with ease loaded and unloaded. So what if they ride like cars!I mean I like a nice ride with power.I hate the way Dodge rides and the Duramax cabs are nicer and with cloth seats they form right to your ass!For long hauls the Duramax is better and more comfortable.

Actually, GM was the first one with the diesel, but it was mainly built for fuel economy during the early 80s (after the Carter fuel shortage). The first real heavy duty pulling diesels that had enough power to pull themselves in pickups was the 6.9 International V8, which had 375 lb/ft of torque. This was naturally aspirated, not turbo. That was punched out to 7.3 and put out numbers that wouldn't be beat by GM's TURBOCHARGED diesel until about 1999. So, if that is as far behind as they had fallen, with all of that head start, that is truely sad. Just because you are the veteran of diesels in pickups, doesn't mean you are the best. The original Duramaxes weren't as strong as the older generation Powerstrokes, The new Duramaxes put out great numbers, but are only be good for racing, depending on the accuracy of the numbers(suspect). If I want to race, I will have a Cummins diesel push start my sprint car. I don't need a truck to race, and I don't need ben telling me that my truck is *** when he don't have a truck and the truck that he brags about but doesn't have is regularly outpulled by my Powerstroke that he so happily calls a "powerchoke." I hope you choke on my exhaust and die as I pull away from you and your puny little cattle trailer and Duramax truck (with my 2002 Ford Powerstroke w/ my JD 4440 on the back).

BTW... Ben, if you buy a GM truck, you wont be able to enjoy that NICE interior for very long. After about 30-45 thousand miles, all the electronic stuff goes to *** That includes the instrument panel, the radio, the CD player, the A/C fan switches, A/C flapper valve, power windows, all of that goes out. My 2004 GMC is the biggest rattle trap ever built. My dad's 2005 is the same way. My lil' brother's 2007 hasn't rattled yet, but has had the rear end blow up after only 200 miles. Yes, 200 miles.

Ben, the GMC truck I have is a 2004 GMC 1500 with a V8. That is my street truck. It is my baby. I don't know where you get it that I have abused my baby. I am just saying that GM don't make the quality vehicles that they used to. I have a 1998 GMC Sierra half ton (the work truck/ muddin pickup) with a V6 that had absolutely no problems until 160,000 miles when a fuel pump went out. It didn't get its first rattle until 180,000 miles. My pickup had barely any miles on it when the steering shaft started making noise. It was replaced at 25,000 miles while the truck was in having a water pump replaced. I had another one put in at 42,000 miles when the instrument panel died. It has rattles out the wazoo. I will probably keep that truck until it has 300+ thousand miles on it, but that is the last GM product that I will buy, even though I have always been a diehard.

I had a ford tractor. It was a 4630. The thing wouldn't start in anything below 50 degrees without ether (the thing really needed an overhaul). I believe that the hours on that tractor were about 2500 when we got rid of it. That thing sucked in the mud too. I always had to get my dad's John Deere 2240 to pull me out. That John Deere 2240 has started unassisted by heater or ether at about 20 degrees (I was surprised myself). I have continued to buy John Deeres because of the good luck that I and everybody else have had with them (the New Holland place here has a reputation of screwing people, the manager that sold us the 4630 was as unscrupulous as it comes, as he lied about the age)
I love my John Deeres. That 4440 pulls a pretty good load. I have a 20 ft tandem disk that I pull with that. That tractor has been really good to us. It has almost 10,000 hours without an overhaul. It has the good transmission, the quad range. I have been known to get 2 8hour days out of a single tank of fuel in that tractor, so I can't complain about the fuel economy.

RodnCandy: PS E2 "the voice of reason" I do recall you admitting to me in Benny boys original thread that you did stack tuners on you duramax, putting more through it than any stock trans will hold. And you were aware that the the tranny was going to slip, and that from the factory you knew that it wouldnt hold.
Now youve done the same thing to your "Oh so much better" Dodge and what do you know the stock tranny is slipping again. Dang thats some really incredible reasoning.
Hey RodnCandy go chack out the Wanted 2004 or newer Duramax page i believe page 2,3 or 4 to see my list of repairs to my Duramax. Repairs to my Cummins so far are ZERO!!!! The trans is something that i want to do in order to get into compitition the trans in the durashit was just a pile that couldnt do anything i asked it to without throwing a fit. My cousin owns the truck now and he has it on a stock tune and the piece of *** couldnt even pull a 36' flat bed loaded to around 15,000 pounds. We had to hook up my Dodge to it because the Allison couldnt handle the wieght. Sounds like good reasoning to me. Think before you type.

Ok I agree New Holland does tend to screw people. But the Ford tractors are nice tractors!Did the 4630 have a weather button? If it did you press that button in when you have the throttle at about 17rpms and she'll start.See Ford makes their tractors to be fuel efficient unlike Deere. The reason the Deere starts easier is because they just automatically use extra fuel to start. What the hell good is that in the summer time? It's just plain a waste of diesel! 4440s are pretty good tractors but put a Ford 9700 against that 4440 and you will see the Ford is quieter because Ford has a better cab than Deere. Also Ford has 2doors can't say the same for your green one. Keep that in mind.
