Does anyone know the manufacter that makes the kit that adds 2 gears to your trans? I know Diesel Power put out an article about it, but I cant find that issue. If anyone knows the website or where I can find more info about it....let me know. Thanks

I hope you are talkin about the auto. If so you can get and extra overdrive for the 48RE from NADP or Suncoast or Goerends. I have the extra overdrive unit on my Dodge as well as a fully built trans and it great for the highway it increases your fuel mileage. What has crossed my mind tho is if there is a aftermarket Orion 68RFE that someone sells i would rather buy that and put it in my truck and have a six speed instead of a five. Hope that helps.

I have the 6 speed in truck. Ive heard of ppl adding 3 gears to it. One guy told me he was getn 38 mpg with no load and was getn 30 pullin his camper, but couldnt use the 2 extra gears pulling.

i dont believe that. the only way a cummins gets 38 MPG is if it is on a trailer and you are idling it while you are towing it. extra gears help, but they wont get you another 20 mpg.

HI OUTLAW, I'VE HEARD THAT ATS DON'T GIVE GOOD CUSTOMER SERVICE, ANYWAY YOU CAN CALL SUNCOAST, LEVEL TEN, TCS, TCI, DUNRITE, NADP, CALL THEM ALL and SEE WHO WILL GIVE YOU THE BEST WARRANTY FOR THE MONEY

Dont forget Goerends. They build bad ass trannys. Just call up different places and see who gives ya the most bang for your buck and the nest warrenty. I would avoid ATS. BTW welcome to Diesel Power Outlaw. Glad to have ya!

this is why im getting a manual, sooo much easier to deal with, less moving parts and less power robbing.  To get fuel mileage like that it is possible.  Mopar Muscle magazine did an article on a 04 dodge 24 valve cummins with a 5 spd manual, they installed the edge juice, water methanol, a gear vendors over drvie unit and a MSD propane injection system.  THey claimed that with the propane set at damn near 100 percent(i think it was like 90 percent propane, 10 percent diesel fuel) they saw 44 mpg out of the thing on the highway and 32 city, it was in the april 05 issue i believe.  ive got it cut out and hung on the bulletin board by my computer,
