i am 21 and have bought the truck of my dreams an 04 ram with a 5.9 and a six speed manual tranny. and being so young with so much power on tap all i can think about is wanting more power. a friend of mine told me that there is a piece of plastic/metal somewhere around the turbo, that can be popped out to maximize airflow. can somebody tell my if this is true or if it is just a bunch of bunk.

i dont know about the 04s but on the 99s there is a silencer between the airbox and the inner fender well. it just pops out. then on the turbo there is a silencer ring that is on the intake side of the turbo that is held in with a snap ring. just take a screwdriver and pop it out then pull the ring out. this will make the turbo loud enough you can hear it whistle above a straight pipe. again thats on a 99 so im not sure if it is the same as on yours.

yes, your truck has a silencer ring, however, removing it will not give you any more power at all, itll just make the truck sound mean as ****. like said above all you need is a screw driver and a pair of channels locks to remove the snap ring. Ill take a picture of what im talking about later today.
