i am not defending the 6.4 because i really don't care if it does or not in fact i would rather it have the old soot spewing system on there so it doesn't pig on the fuel in regen however it looks like that truck does not have the stock exhaust system if you ripped out the emissions crap or changed the exhaust it is going to be more likely to blow smoke

ya i dont get it how dose burning twice the fuel and making the exhaust sink make every thing better. in my opinon if they would just let the engine breath then they could pass the emisson standerds.

yeah i dunno but we have four 2008s on our custom cutting crew this year and they were only getting 10 towing so we hacked off the dpf and looped the sensor wires then we put together 5 inch exhausts for them and now they get about 16 loaded and 22 empty i dunno thought it was interesting but theyll blow black smoke pulling hills but take out of it what u will

I was wondering how you could get away with getting rid of all the emissions crap on there. Notice any difference in power with it opened up a little more?

I would love to do that to mine but just cant get myself to void the warranty. Especially not untill I know how that 6.4 is going to hold up. With the track record of the last PSD, Im to scared to do any upgrades and risk voiding it.

It's kind of a trade-off. You can get good mileage but "dirty" emissions, or crappy mileage and "clean" emissions. The main things they're trying to attack with the cats and soot traps are NOX and particulates. But in terms of CO2, that's based solely on fuel consumption, so in theory, these choked diesels with all the emissions crap on them are actually emitting more CO2 than just un-plugged straight-pipe diesels.
You can say what you want about the selective reduction "pee" catalysts coming out, but if anything, they'll probably give you better performance and economy, because instead of relying on traps and cats, it'll just squirt a little urea in the exhaust that will accomplish the same thing all these elaborate traps and cats do now. Sure, it'll be a PITA to keep it topped off every several thousand miles, but it might be better than the crappy mileage we have to deal with now.

i dunno it helped on the power side a little bit but adding the chip kind of covers up whatever opening up the exhaust mightve added as far as warranty goes im still waiting for the last 6.0l to drop so we can switch it over to a high output cat C7 but its whatever
