I searched the forums before asking this but could'nt find any info.  I was wondering about fuel additives, such as which ones are best, what they do, when and how to use them.  Any info you have is appreciated.

POWER SERVICE, WILL CLEAN THE INJECTORS, GIVE YOU EASIER STARTS, MORE HP, BETTER MPG, PREVENT YOUR FUEL FROM GELLING, WHEN IT'S COLD!! SINCE IT GIVES YOU BETTER MPG, YOU ARE GOING TO GET YOUR MONIES WORTH!! I STOP USING POWER SERVICE CAUSE FOR $4.99 I ONLY GET TWO PORTIONS PER QUART, WHILE I PAY $13.49 FOR A GALLON OF ACETONE, AND GET 16 PORTIONS!!! ACETONE IS CHEAPER!!

I have been in the trucking industry for 30 years and have been using a product called "Power Service" they have two formulas, one is for anti-gelling (freezing weather) and one is more for injector cleaning and Cetane (octane for diesel) boost. They both are a water emulsifier, which means it breaks down the water in diesel. The big no-no with GM is anything that contains alcohol (hurts the pump) GM sells their own additive and it is not a emulsifier. It is a water separator so the filter can more easily separate it. There is an on-going debate on which is better between a separator or emulsifier. It's up to you which you believe is the better answer when it comes to water in the fuel.I have an "05 1-ton GMC and have been running PowerService from day one. I Definitely feel the power boost and do see better milage, and if you through in the added bonus of being an injector cleaner it's a win-win. Runs about $7.00 a quart and will treat up to 100 gallons

Yes you can use Power Service-Diesel Kleen in the 07.5+ trucks designed for ULSD. As far as 2-cycle oil is concerned, it apparently has it's benefits in the "standard" (3500-4000 psi) pressure diesel systems (pre-common rail) as the truckers have been using it for decades, along with ATF and even used moter oil. But beware using it in the High Pressure Common Rail (HPCR-23,000+ psi!) diesel engines. The use of any kind of "heavy" oil, like 2-cycle oil, is reportadly wreaking havoc on the HPCR fuel systems, especially the injectors ($600.00 A PIECE for stock Cummins injectors at the Dodge Garage).

I-6 Cummins guys are keepin' it straight. Those other boys swing both ways.

The best product you can use is stanadyne.  I have been told by diesel mechanics to only use stanadyne.
