yeah, its hard to swap te computer controlled 24 valve into anything else, your best bet it to swap a 12 valve, but they are getting harder to find at a decent price.

Oh yea. Just find a 12 valver from a 19994-1998 Dodge. Those engines had the famous P-7100 injection pump, otherwise known as the P-Pump. That little gem is the one sought after by all the sled-pullers and other big horsepower guys as it can be easily modified to flow more fuel than any other injection pump ever strapped to a 5.9L Cummins and doesn't require a computer of any kind to operate. Completely mechanically operated.
The earlier 5.9L, 12-valve engines, like in Project Rust Bucket, used a smaller, less voluminous pump, called the VE pump. From 1998.5 on to 2002, Dodge used the 24-valve engines with the computer controlled VP-44 injection pump. 2003 started the High Pressure Common Rail (HPCR) style injection and Cummins used the electronically controled CP3 pump that generates fuel pressures of 23,000 psi and above. When the 6.7L Cummins was introduced, the CP3 was tuned to produce nearly 30,000 PSI(!), but it still can't flow the raw volume of the good ol' P-7100.
2003 Dodge Ram 2500 Laramie 4x4. H.O. Cummins, 6spd manual trans, 4.10 gearing. Intake, Exhaust, Hot Juice, HTT HTB2 62/12/65, Jake Brake, 305-65R17 (33 x 12.50) Pro-Comp Extreme All Terrains, SBC Con O FE, Fuel Tank Vent Mod, Various other gizmos.
I-6 Cummins guys are keepin' it straight. Those other boys swing both ways.

wow ... that mad dog guys truck is sick...i dont want powetr like what he has but its gonna be pretty much a daily driver that will definately go to the track...i was thinking 500 with the psd but when i get a 12v...600? 700? ive seen a nadp 800 hp daily driver so i dunno...i dont wanna crack the engine open and start throwing in a crank and rods and pistons and what not... and im only going for a single turbo...twins is too much...what would be a good number to shoot for with those intensions?

Yeah its the '94-'98 trucks with the P7100 pump, not to be confused with the 1998.5 trucks with the 24 valve. I know you can put a fuel plate on these pumps, and get mad power. I'm not 100% sure how it works, but I looked up the dyno results, and with a stock 5-speed truck the plate gave it 45 more hp just with the plate alone. (215hp to 260hp). It is fairly cheap, the #11 being the highest rated road legal plate, ranging from $150-$200. If you are going to push more than 600 horses, I think you will need some internal engine mods, not to mention the transmission. While I'm thinking about it, does anybody know exactly how to adjust the P-pump for more fuel? Is it set up like the VE pump, with an Allen key? How do you know when you are pushing to much fuel?

with bolt ons, idk they did a test on the duramax in one of the issues a couple of months ago. the most they got the dmax to crank out was 600rwhp. so it was probably around 750 crank hp. thats just with bolt ons, nothing else. with a single turbo the most youre looking at is 600 hp, but ive never owned a cummins so i dont know what the most bolt on hp you can get with one turbo is.

you have to be careful when you play with the pumps because if you turn it to high the engine will run away and rev to like 5500 rpms and blow so you should take off the intake to the turbo and have something solid to hold infront of the turbo to choke off the air supply incase it does run away on you so it doesnt sieze on you
