What happened diesel used to be really cheap back i the 90s and early 2000s and since 04 to the present it was always cheaper than gas but now it out of control way more expensive than premium!!!! what the fruit!!!! Is sucks driving my cummins now becuase its so fun to floor it but then its not so fun to use up half a tank around town when diesel is so damn expensive!!!!ahhhhhhhhhhh what can we do and really how easy is it to make biodiesl and how many mods do i have to make to my truck to run it and is it safe for use in this modern diesel motor, 04.5 dogde ram 3500 cummins 600

HEY GEO450, DIESEL COST MORE NOW BECAUSE (1) THERE ARE MORE DIESEL CARS AND TRUCK, MORE OF A DEMAND (2) ULSD COST MORE TO MAKE (3) USLD IS CLEANER THAN GAS, BUT THE FEDS STILL HAVE A DIRTY TAX ON DIESEL.

I think it has a lot to do with the EPA and government sanctions. People beleive that diesel is so harmful to the enviornment...so up goes the price. Some beleive it is a government conspricy to put an end to diesel engines, but I think that's a little far fetched. I tried to get around high prices last year (I spent almost as much in diesel getting to the rodeo than I did to enter the damn rodeo) by putting military grade JP8 in my Cummins. DO NOT DO THIS!! Stick with fuel from the pump, or farm diesel if you are sneaky enough Putting military grade diesel in that engine caused a lower, rough idle, hard starts, and eventually a clogged fuel filter. I wonder how the 6.5 GM in the humvee runs off the stuff?

i heard on the news a few days ago that the reason for the rediculous prices was they are trying to stock pile a schit load of oil for the future. hahahahahaha thats good one. Then i heard that a huge oil tanker from china got attacked. OK maybe possible?? BUT the funniest part to all of this B.S. is about 2 years ago i worked a job in the mountains of MEEKER, CO. for shell oil co. it was a sperimental oil extrraction facility. it helps me to understand why the prices are so high because with the way they waste money if all other oil companies are the same i cant believe fuel isnt at 5.00+. BUt anyway back to point got a little side tracked. While at a meeting some of SHELLS big wigs told us there is enough OIL in ALASKA alone to furnish the U.S. for centuries. HOWEVER, all the TREE HUGGIN environmental pansies wont let us tap into it because its in the middle of a wildlife preserve. I mean i dont think there is anything wrong with protecting the wildlife, but you gotta draw the line somewhere!!!

I think the mil-spec Hummers had indirect injection, which works much better with poor-quality fuel than high-pressure, common-rail systems.

I'm in Canada we're paying 1.29 per liter. I'd gladly pay 4.50 a gallon

In big piney where i live is a town based solely on the oil and gas field and we bring the oil to production and ship it out but we are still raped at the pumps and i know that oil companys are making roughly about 65 dollars per barrel i was working on one well that was making upwards of 500 barrels a day. We don't have a shortage in this country its the fact that refineries are not making as much as they can because if they do it would make supply closer to demand thus making the prices lower but the aren't because of all the semis and all of the meium duty and light duty diesels on the roads. And lets face it we all like seeing those giant clouds of black smoke coming out of our stacks or exhaust pipes and oil executives know this thats why they don't ask the refineries to crank up production.

We are being bent over a table adn taken it in the ass when it comes to prices. There is enough oil in this country and in canada to give us more than we need on a daily basis to last me thru my lifetime and my childrens lifetime. We need more refinerys and not some bull schit nation wide health care plan. What the politicians need to by concerned about is the price of fuel because i have medical insurance.... its called a job and for all those people that sit on there ass all day for no good reason maybe instead of bitchin about not having medical insurance they should go out and get a job and work. Just my rant.

Another refinery wouldn't lower the price not enough to see at the pumps any way The government want to stimulate the economy well lower the fuggin gas prices so people have more money to travel and blow their hard earned wadd on something other than the gas that gets them back and forth from there job i love the oil field and the money i'm makin but its pretty rediculas when diesel is 4.49 a gallon just because some rich bastard wants a little extra cash to buy a hooker with.

yeah really my 600 bucks will go towards fuel nothing else. if they want the economy to get better like ofd said lower the damn fuel prices. either that or instead of giving out $600 checks (i wont get mine till july which is bs) they should give out $6,000 and lower fuel costs
