I was recently reading an article in a diesel magazine and it meantioned a killer dowel pin that affects some 89-98Cummins, but it didnt say exactly what a killer dowel pin is or how to find out if your truck has it. Can anybody shed some light on this for me? My truck is a 99 but im looking into buying a 98 from a friend of mine and I want to know if the the truck has a serious problem before I buy it and if it does have this killer dowel pin how do I fix it?

It is a must to fix man. If/when that sucker falls out...your truck is toast. Its relatively cheap, just a little time consuming if you do it yourself. I dont know how much it would cost a shop to do it...
