I have 70,000 miles on my 03 and have A\C failures that can not seem to be diagnosed. The dealership has refilled the refrigerate 6 times in the past year. They have added yellow dye twice. They have pressure tested the system to 400 psi with nitrogen and can not find the leak. I tow a 5th wheel trailer and if I start out with active A/C by the time I run 10 - 20 hrs I have no A/C. If I do not haul the trailer the A/C will last a couple of weeks. I was told by a coffee shop expert that the leak must be in the compressor's seal. The dealer can not detect this leak and a new compressor installed is around $1000.00. I can't be the only person in America with this problem. ANY help would be greatly appreciated.

my gradnfathers had the same problem, no A/c under load, it was a compressor seal, go to a junk yard and get you another compressor or buy a new one. only way to fix it it.

ya you cant really leak check for those. what the dealership should have done was put dye in the system then they would have noticed that the entire compressor would be green with dye. if the new compressor doesnt solve it it might be the evaporator put dye in the system and check the drain from the cab.

look for moist dirt on all of your a/c lines. no moisture, no leak. your compressor clutch is working fine until it gets hot. when the clutch windings get hot and the voltage to engage the clutch can not over come the resistance in the windings and the clutch will dis-engage. your a/c quits working and you get pissed. replace the clutch on the compressor or replace the compressor unit complete. do not buy one from a junk yard because you will be buying another problem.
