ive got a 2004 f350 with the 6.0 and it needs a new airfilter, now heres the thing a factory replacement air filter is $90.00!!! and is a bicth to take off and replace i really don't like it. Ive heard there are aftermarket solutions that are cheaper in the long run over buying 90 dollar filters every 20,000 miles, so is there like a replacement filter that uses the factory intake tubes or do i have to buy a full performance intake? Im looking for the cheapest route not really performance gains

would you like a dry filter or one you have to oil when you clean it mine is a k-n cold air kit but you can just buy the air filter and never have to replace it just clean it onece in a while. Or go with a dry filter like bullydog or airade you dont have to oil these and i thinke banks make one has well. Me and my dad likes k-n never had any problems his truck is a stock duramax which he drives alot to job site and you could know how much dirt and saw dust there is always floating around. Go luck with which ever you buy

ive never heard of anyone putting an aftermarket filter on the stock tubing. but it could be possible. i dont now how much $$$ you are lookin to spend but the new afe dry is about the best filter you can put on that truck. the bad thing about it is it will run you about 500$. but like said it will eliminate fighting with that stock unit because it is a major pain in the @$$. and expensive

the factory filters on a 6.0 are 50,000 mile filters not 20,000 thats prolly why your spending so much on filters

the factory filters actually flow really well and they filter a hell of a lot better than a k and n. but ive never been a big fan of k and n filters especially on 7.3's ive seen them ruin alot of motors

youre right for being a factory unit they do flow very well. i remember for a while companies like banks didnt even make an aftermarket air intake for the 6.0 because of how well the factory unit flowed. i guess someone finally figured it out!! and ill agree with the K&N filer i run it on my 400 EX with a prefilter, but will never run it on another truck again. ive heard way to many bad things about them!!!!

the factory filters are better than any aftermarket ive seen but i think 50,000 is a little excessive on an engine that cost 10 to 12 thousand dollars installed. all the deisel we see here the filters are ruined at 25,000.

50,000 mile filters!! wow if i left my filter in that long the motor would barely breath!! I went 30,000 miles on one filter and noticed it was really dirty and after changing it i noticed a power increase!! yea the old filter was that dirty!!! I went to NAPA the other day to see how much the filters were there and they said $60.00 which is lower than what i paid before but the stock filter is a real pain to take out , does someone have a perfected method other than wrestling with it for a half hour??
