Alright guys our worst nightmare is almost here, Diesel at $5.00 a gallon. So im asking are all 300 million of us just going to stand here with our mouths shut while they put the shaft to us or are we going to do something about it. I myself am fed up with this worthless government we have and all these thieving corporations the government protects.What happened to by the people, for the people, of the people. Have we all forgotten that THEY ARE SUPPOSED TO WORK FOR US!!!! They keep increasing taxes, fuel and food but where are the relative wage increases. Gas is supposed to hit $7.00 a gallon next year, how does $8.00 a gallon milk sound or $20.00 per pound beef? HOW MUCH LONGER ARE WE GOING TO LET THIS HAPPEN?

What do you mean almost? I saw it for $5.03 in south Orange County, CA at a Shell right off the I-5.    

I fear things are going to get very ugly before somebody steps to the plate and takes control of the problems this country is facing right now.

The price of oil/gas/diesel/whatever has gone beyond being a nuisance that keeps some people from driving to their yearly vacation spot, to a hindrance of people's entire lifestyle.

Everything we buy/consume has doubled, if not tripled in price over the last 4-5 years. Things people bought and budgeted a few years ago are now huge financial burdens that they can't even sell to get out from under because it has no resale value and no one has the money to buy it.

People are losing their jobs because they can't afford to drive to work. People are getting sick because they can't afford to take the family to the doctor. People DIED during the winter because they couldn't afford to buy heating oil for their homes. Who the hell should have to make the decision on whether they are going to attempt to heat their homes this month or buy food for the family? All while EVERYBODY involved in the oil industry, including the investors that are diving the prices even further up, sit on their golden shitters and report another record profit.

The old saying "desperate times call for desperate measures" is going to become a reality to a growing number of people who have been backed into a financial corner. Their desperation will come to a head, they'll snap, blood will be spilled and it will be the poor sonuvabitch that couldn't see any other choice that will be labeled a criminal.

We all know who the real criminals are here, they are the ones stepping on the little guys like you and I and the families who are starving, freezing and DIEING so they can brag to their buddies who made the most money this quarter. And if driving an entire country into a recession/depression in order to fill their already bulging pockets even more isn't a crime, then neither be should knocking the fat bastards off their pedestal!  

I am glad that there are some people that are as pissed off and as passionate about it as I am. People look at me as kind of an extremist when it comes to this kind of stuff, and i was starting to wonder if i was alone. Im with you dieseldude I to believe that blood will be spilled. I hate to think that way but i cant sit here and lie about it. This country has turned into a bunch of politicly correct push overs. Mindless zombies if you will.  

the problem is that we cant really do anything about it peacefully. and have you noticed that any bill congress tries to pass to help control the prices our fearless leader aka George W. vetoes the bill.  anything to help the little guy he wants nothing to do with it.  you guys mark my words after he is out the white house OPEC will invite him over there and give him a nice big gift for his services.  

The only way we could really solve this is the way of the old west.  as Toby and Willie said "round up all of them outlaws and hang them high in the streets".  However this country has become to passive and wants to be a humanitarian country instead of busting some heads like we used to do. all the tree hugging,  whale savin, global warming pricks have finally got their way and everyone else has to abide by it.  

I know we elected that prick thats in the white house and i know most of the Democrats are all environmentalist and dont want to hurt the environment.  when we first started drilling for oil we would blow the *** straight up in the air and cover the ground now we cant even spill oil while we do an oil change without getting in trouble.

Im sorry this stuff just really pisses me off so i had to write alot.  we elected these *** and they all got their own agenda instead of looking out for us.

I really believe if this stuff doesnt cool down a little bit their is gonna be an uprising and maybe even another civil war over this.  rich and against everybody else.  and ya know what their is alot more of us then them.

I think we're really reaching a tipping point as far as energy sources and policy. The next 5-10 years are going to be interesting on that front.  

the worst part of all this is the price to live is going up substantially but the wages we make arent, hell some peoples wages are even going down. i think they should let honest, hardworking, men/women get on CNN/NBC/FOX whatever and let our voices be heard. screw all the IDIOTS that are on there trying to act like nothing is wrong. something has to happen here  

you said 5-10 yrs do you really think that its going to take that long to see so called united states to go all the way into depression next yr it will be here there will be no resale of anything and the housing crisis will be over cause nobody will have money to buy a house or pay there payments everybody will be on the street the crime will sky rocket nobody will have jobs people will lose everything.  people got married based there budget was able to save money buy a house have a little left over to save and now just because of how our so called gov't is every little person that doesnt own there own oil well is going to starve to death.  You used to worry about somebody stealling the wheels off you new truck now the gas in the tank is worth more. My guess is that everything thats happen now and later is all because the oil compaines like there billion dollar checks they get every year.  Me and my wife make good money even for now and i feel the only thing that helps us a float is our home is paid for not bragging but just not understand how people with real dept can not worry theresleves the death at night wondering how they can buy gas just to drive to work much less buy food and pay a house payment. A man will provide for his family whether is legal or not til they get caught. Sorry for so long just my feelings on this.  

Scott, unfortunately, I do think it's going to get worse before it gets better. There's definitely going to be an adjustment period before alternative fuels are widely available. Most of this is due to China and India getting suddenly industrialized and wanting to buy cars. Just to give you an idea of the magnitude, the middle class of both China and India is about as big as the entire population of the U.S. AND THAT'S IN BOTH COUNTRIES! So you're talking about potentially 600+ million people between the two of them that want cars and all the other luxuries associated with middle-class success.

There are some very exciting technologies on the horizon in regard to alternative fuels, but I don't expect they're going to be widely available or cheaper than current fuels for the next 5-7 years. I think $6-7/gallon fuel probably isn't too far away.    

OK GUYS, EITHER AMERICAN COMPANIES DRILL FOR OIL OR WE ARE GOING TO BE LIVING LIKE IN THE MAD MAX MOVIES, EVERY-TIME YOU KILL A BAD GUY, YOU TAKE HIS FUEL?????

point it in the right direction. the tree huggers do not want to drill in our country . and the congress put the stop on drilling in this country. IF we started to drill
and flooded the market in this country with our own oil
the price would drop very low. like back to the 60's
when a gallon was 45 cents. flooding the market is the key to lower prices.
None of the three for president have addressed this. it is a sad day in this country.  

Even in the best-case scenario I've heard put forth by the oil companies themselves, domestic reserves have been pegged at maybe 60 years worth, and that INCLUDES if we were to make gasoline and diesel from coal, which is possible. It buys us time, but it doesn't get us past the fact that we've got to look beyond petroleum-based fuels. Believe me, I'm no fan of Gore and friends, but if for no other reason than national security, we've got to wean ourselves off the teat of oil.

to all of us. coal to oil should be started today in this country.
