i was driving through town and i saw a 93 4 cyl jeep for sale with a 5 speed manual. the guy wanted 3 grand for it. new all terrains, springs(4) shocks(4) exhaust, etc. has the typical jeep leaks, valve cover, rear main, oil pan etc. runs great clutch is tight and so is the trans. i just wondered if any of you guys had any experience with these jeeps and if it is a good buy.

also, what kind of modifications could i do to help the mileage factor? i think its around 16 mpg now. any help is appreciated, thanks

by the way, jeep has 119000 miles. the body is unusually clean for the year. good floor pans, no rocker rust, tiny surface spot on the fender. no signs of ever being repainted. it also has a soft top that is in good shape and the plastic windows clear and hardly scratched

I saw on 4WD & Sport Utility's Blog that Mopar is offering a swap kit to put the 2.8L VM Motori diesel from the Liberty into older Jeeps, including YJ and TJ Wranglers. That could be a good option for increasing fuel economy.
