After I graduate High School, next summer (planning ahead), I'm going to be buying a truck. I was looking at getting a 1999 Ford F-350 SuperCab 7.3L Powerstroke Dually Diesel.

I was wondering, what kind of performance mods should I be looking for? I'm planning on taking it off-road. I know the exhaust/intake is a must, but I was also looking for a twin-turbo kit and a supercharger kit but it seems that neither exist for the Powerstroke, at least none that I've found. All I could really find is exhaust/intake upgrades and a bolt-in turbo replacement but nothing like what I was looking for. My friend is a mechanic so he would be able to install all of it for me.

Thanks in advance.

start out with these sites for a twin turbo setup. you can throw out the idea of the supercharger because you wont find one for a diesel only turbos.. then you will need exhaust, air intake, gauges, injectors, a bigger intercooler wouldnt hurt anything either aand the list goes on and on just dont have time to finish right now lol. you are gonns be spendin thousands of dollars. but if you get it done it will be bad a$$... good luck

The best advice i can give you is dont buy a dually if you want to go off road. Unless your idea of off road is driving thru mud puddles like most of the youth.

Get ready to spend over 15k with ease for what you want

Over 5k for tranny

Over 5k for bolt in twin turbos

Over 5k for injectors and big oil

I don't need to spend all $15k at once, right? I mean, I can spend it over time. Would you suggest tranny, injectors/oil/otehr little things like that, and then twin turbos, in that order?

I live in Florida, so there's lots of marshes, and no rocks/hills to climb. So, pretty much mud is all I have to deal with. I will take road trips to visit family in New York occasionally, but even then a Dually shouldn't do too bad, right?

Thanks for those links. But in which order of the parts should I go? Bummer there aren't any superchargers, but oh well, I can live without it.

Thanks,
Bobby.

your dually will prolly get about 16mpg empty on the highway, and thats with the wind blowing you up there, add a lift and big tires and your gonna be down to like 8mpg. i hate to break it to ya but like said above throw the idea of a super charger out the window and never think about it again for a diesel. now for your truck. gauges, air intake, exhaust, chip. then you should get a tranny built for the added tq cause it the diesel world tq is what will kill a tranny. just remember might have 300hp but your tq will be double that.

then ya can do the bigger injectors, if ya still wanna dow twins you'll have to think about a upgrading the fuel pump too cause then you'll have alot more air and not enough fuel. your stock intercooler wont be able to handle all of that so getting a better one would be a good idea. water/meth might be a good idea to also help keep your egts down. so yeah $15,000 was just easy spent. its sad that that amount of money cant be spent in just less then an hour at a diesel shop, site or other performence shop.

I was thinking of making my own biodiesel, to save me a few bucks in gas. Do any of you have any comments/criticism of biodiesel?

im not going against the last two posts. but i know a guy around my town that runs bio in an 04 6.0. and doesnt  have problems. but on the flip side he spent a few thousand on injectors and other items so it can be done its just expensive. if thats a route yuo really want to go down. but personally i agree with the aBOVE posts just run # 2

My suggestion for staring up on a tight budget is a Bully dog dyno dominator programmer, K&N cold air intake and if you want a loud truck take it to a local exhaust shop and have a turbo back exhaust without a muffler on it. It will keep your EGT's down (exhaust gas temperature). For your mid range power i suggest gettin an Airaid Throttle Body Spacer. This wil run you arround two grand. For a dually i wouldn't lift it too much for off road use. I would put on nothing higher then a 4 inch lift and 35 inch tires. you can pick all this stuff up at www.autoanything.com

intake and turbo back(big ristriction on down pipe)exhaust always first it has to breath.
dp-tuner,intercooler,injectors and then turbo and you will have a great running truck with plenty of power and if you run tires even as big as the 54 boggers its just gears. my best friends 97 is on 41 irok's. strait piped 7.3's sound the best.

If you do get a K&N get a pre-filter or "sock" for it. They don't impede flow that much, but will keep it MUCH cleaner, and block a lot of the junk that would get past the regular filter.
