From what i heard to we have enough coal that can be converted to diesel and run the whole of this country if we all drove diesel for 20 years.  

i heard that gas was going to be $5.00 agallon by the end of the year so i could see $7.00 for diesel. fuel prices is what is going to ruin the united states. i live in north arkansas and work for a boat factory called ranger boats. they are going to shut production down to 3 days a week and only 34 boats a week will be built.thats down from a 110 boats a week a couple monthes ago. people cant afford to fish unless they are pro's making money at it.if stuff dont change and the factory some how has to close because of this it would ruin the whole area i live in. in marion county there is maybe 3000 people total. ranger employes almost 900 people.  

Better hope it doesn't reach $7.00 a gallon. Diesel just hit $4.76 here in Moscow, Idaho. The cost of diesel is just killing me! I love my truck but if things continue the way they are now I might have to park the cummins and start driving my toyota pickup. I used to think $5.00 per gallon of diesel would be way off but now it looks like it will be here soon if not already. I might invest in a biodiesel system here soon!  

food is so expensive because over 1/3 of our nations corn is busy being made into crappy fuel. hopefully mccain gets in he wants to abbolish ethanol, and hillary is a *** so i dont want her in either.  

I don't know what you are all talking about in Santa Barbara diesel was 4.98 on Monday, Friday it rose up to 5.50/gallon and when i checked this morning it was 5.69/gallon i wonder if we will get to 7dollars /gallon by next month. I think the war is costing to much money. The affected countries with this so called war are the worlds producers of crude oil and i wonder if they who to control OPEC are revenging by hurting our country with high oil prices. Cost of oil: Two-thirds of the price of gas is linked to crude costs. Crude oil - a year ago selling for $63 a barrel - hit nearly $130 a barrel Tuesday. Each $1 jump in the barrel price equals a 2 1/2-cent increase at the pump.

Global demand: The number of cars on the road is increasing by 16 percent a year in India, 26 percent a year in China. China's crude oil imports have risen nearly 12 percent from a year ago. It imports more than 3 1/2 million barrels a day, second only to the United States, which imports more than 12 million barrels.

BIG ED MADE A GOOD POINT, ALOT OF BUSINESS WILL HAVE TO SHUT DOWN!!! i hear everyday on the news about gas prices and frankly im sick of it cause they are just getting to 4 bucks a gallon when diesel has been over 4.00 bucks for over a month. i found a recepit from jan when i got fuel it was 3.29 a gallon so in between now and jan it has gone up 1.36 a gallon!!!! within 4 months  

well i agree the key to getting these prices down is to find alternate sources of fuel for our major power producing plants, revamp the mass transit system to make it more user friendly, and to upgrade the railroads, i understand that it'll take alot of jobs away from long-haul truckers but all of em will go out of buisness if fuel gets too much higher...

anyway just looking at history and the way things are going this is the way wars are started. just somethin to think about.  

Around here diesel has quadrupled in the last five years, I understand china and india have been to blame for some of the supply and demand but come on. I wounder how many gallons per day we are being burned over seas to keep the war moving round in circles? Last I checked Diesel was up to $5.19...

tch i remembered thinking how ridiculous it was 2 years ago to pay 2.29 a gallon for diesel.  

when i first started driving at the age of 16 that was 6 years ago, gas was 1.25 a gallon my said back when she started driving it was like 29 cents a gallon back in the early 70s
