#1 Your confusing how the engine is designed and how its configured. Replace (Inline) and (V-8) with (cummins) and (Ford/Chevy) and I'd agree with you.
#2 Mack was never famous for making the best engines.
#3 Is it really necessary to leave your caps turned on?

I-6 is better hard to say when your a die hard chevy fan but i dont like any chevy trucks newer than 06 because of the bulky body and i hate tht chevy doesnt use a solid front axle because that IFS is killing chevy in off road usage.
