the other day I came home from work and i go to turn off my key and i turns off but at the same time it is trying to start when the key is off, then i turn the key on and it pops really bad,the starter almost caught fire it was cranking when i turned the off and before this i got in my truck and turned the key on and I couldnt hear the fuel pump turn on, i tried it again and i could barely hear it,and I have to unplugg the battaries just so it wont crank over, I looked for codes and I got:
1693
0602
0460
0645
1687
what do these mean? i think the 1693 is something to do with the vp.

Sounds to me like your starter contacts welded together. I would take the starter off and take it into an autoparts store to have them test it. Or if you have an Multimeter you can check ohms across the starter solenoid. It should be OL or infinite ohms. If its the contacts you can rebuild it using Larry B's Starter contacts which will help keep the problem from happening again.

Yeah, that's pretty freaky. I know about a month ago where I live, there was an old Chevy Astro van in the parking lot just crankin' and crankin' and crankin'. I thought "Man, doesn't that guy know that's not good for the starter?" But then I went to look, and there was nobody in the van, it was just doing it on its own, and kept doing it 'til it ran the battery down, and it smoked and made a smell like nobody's business! Really weird.

The contacts basically got so hot that they melted together. Same principle applies when your welding metal.
