how do i put a smokeswitch in on my 99 dodge cummins
1999 Dodge cummins 65hp edge chip, tripple disc torque converter and boost,egt temp, trans temp, and fuel pressure gauges, 4" turbo back exhust with 5" tip, silencer ring removed from turbo, FASS 150GPH, HOTROD VP44, leveling kit, BD steering Stabalizer BD boost elbow and KN Air Filter rolling on 35" BFGoodrich Mud Terrain. its not that hard, he tells you what wires to connect to, but ill walk you through it.
first get some connectors like seen in the video, a 20 amp switch, two prong only. second, find the map sensor located down on the block, just behind your fuel filter and pump, it should have three wires coming out of it, remove the harness and then, take the tan/pink wire and connect of connector to it then run a seperate wire to one end of the switch and plug the other end into the tan/pink wire connector. then as you look at the back of the map sensor plug, you'll see t2o black wires, the one on the upper left is the wire you need, splice it with a connector and run that wire to the other side of the switch. once the wires are hooked up, reconnect the plug into the map sensor and start the truck(with the switch OFF), once the truck is up to operating temps(150-190 degrees) hit the switch and mashed the acelerator pedal, if it smokes, it works, if it trips the check engine light, then you spliced the wrong black wire and need to go to the other one. let me know if this clears it up for you.

just how much smoke will this create and why does this work, by any chance does this create more hp by just dumping loads of fuel into the engine. But it seems like you would want to watch your egt's.

oh yeay, itll smoke like a son of *** and yes, defienetly watch those egts, i doubt it adds HP, but itll increase the bottom end and torque up faster, bout a tenth of a second i noticed on mine, but really really watch those egts i hit over 1500 in a split second

it works by tricking your computer into thinking your at full boost so it dumps fuel in when theres really no boost. what it does is the one wire is the 5v reference wire and the other is the signal wire. normally as more pressure builds from boost the sensor reads (i believe) less resistance therefore seeing more volts at the computer and this just tricks it.

youre almost correct, as more boost is added, it actually decreases the voltage reading that the computer sees, therefore, when you put a switch on and turn it on, it actually cuts the voltage to the computer so that the computer sees 0 volts and dumps max fuel into the motor, again, watch those EGTs, plus if you are running injectors that are really big, you can put the fire out with too much fuel but youre talking stage 6 or 7 racing injectors. it works great sitting at idle or at a stop light, i dont use mine to launch anymore, tried it twice, both times my egts sky rocketed over 1500 degrees, not worth melting my pistons down.
