Air-fuel ratio screw? Thats a new one to me, you mean the starwheel or the pre-boost screw?
When you remove the plate completely you may over-rotate the plungers in some pumps (215s) and get into the reatrd notch or worse. Makes lots of smoke and high EGTs but you loose power. And simply dumping a bunch of fuel in without first lighting the turbo often results in low power and cylinder wash.

PDR has directions for how to adjust the hieght of the governor arm on there website. Its really easy to do. Check it out unter the technical section http://www.pdrdiesel.com/oldsite/TechLeverAdj.htm

OK so ive settled on a #10 plate, I want more power while not screwing myself royally. I dont need the constant fuel of the #0 and the #100 seems to end up the same. So I'll get a #10. Next is to see what kind of boost im pushing to adjust the turbo.
