I own a 2004 Dodge but I have friends that own the new 6.7 and are having a real hard time with fuel mileage and towing ability with chips on them. I have been telling them they need to change out there exhaust but we are a little nervous on the DPF sytem. How does it burn out and is there a issue with fire if you take it out?

I know there are a few guys on here that have straight-piped 6.7s. I'm not sure if it still goes into re-gen if you take the DPF off.

from what i understand you remove all the dpf with the delete kit then its up to the programmer to cancel out the re-gen and not allow it to run that cycle.

nmlakerat is right about what he said. the way it does regen is it actually dumps more fuel into the motor to raise the egts causeing the soot to burn off so no risk of anything catching fire if its removed. the check engine light will come on if you dont have a programmer that can shut it off but it wont go into limp mode or anything u'll just have to look at the light (or put some electrical tape over it haha)

You can't just straight pipe it. The check engine light WILL come on. And the truck WILL go into limp mode. I have already been there. You have to order the gen 2 kit from BADPtrucks.com . Go ahead and get the kit from the turbo back. It gives you a new down pipe. The factory one has a cat in it to. No check engine lights, no limp mode. Guarnteed!

I ordered a DPF delete kit from Compitition diesel and then went ahead and got a complete turbo back exhaust from MBRP and put the foolers and evreything in and the truck sounds mean. Have yet to put a tip on it but i will hear soon.

I HAVE AN 08 D MAX AND I THOUGHT THAT IF I GOT RID OF THE CAT,DPF,MUFF AND PUT THE SENSORS BACK IN THAT IT WOULD BE GOOD AND TRICK THE COMPUTER.....WRONG! YOU WILL BURN UP YOUR EGR, SO THEN I DROVE IT WITH THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ON, GOT 6 MPG, SMOKED ALL THE TIME AND RAN LIKE *** THEN CAME LIMP MODE AND WOULDNT COME OUT SO I CALLED RBP AND TALKED TO ROLLAND AND HE GOT ME FIXED UP AND THE TRUCK RUNS GREAT, AND GET 21-22 MPG

With my DPF delete from PDI my motor never went into limp mode. I don't thimk it regened either. just had a check engine light. When I got my Edge juice with attitude it monitors your regen. it says if its on or off. Mine has never came on since I have had the DPF delete censors plugged into my truck. Plus my edge clears the codes so no more check engine lights came on. But I did start it once without clearing the codes and drove for a while and check engine light came on and it said catalyst full, but it still didn't ever regen according to my EDGE. I highly recomend gettin a EDGE too. its a awesome product and monitors alot of stuff plus it helps save my tranny by defueling. Isn't all the EGR stuff like the thing that is coming off the intake manifold that goes around to the back off the exhaust manifold on the new 6.7. I noticed that in the Dieselpower with the 6.7 race mods that they said they tricked the computer and they were able to take all that stuff off. I called them(PDI) and asked them about it and they said they were going to make a module that gets rid of all that which will in essence allow you to run aftermaket turbos. cuz you will no longer need a electronically controlled turbo. Can't wait till thats on the market. I wanna see what a 6.7 true potential is. Plus I wonder if someone will make aftermarket intake manifolds for the 6.7 like they do the 5.9s when you caN GET A MODULE TO FOOL YOUR COMPUTER AND ALL THAT LAME egr STUFF. thats all I got haha

Yep, you've got to re-flash it if you take the DPF off. If you take it off with the stock computer settings, it's going to go bananas.

thats why if you do it, buy a DPF delete kit, cuz it has the 2 censor taps and little black plug in modules that takes care of the rest. I got a 5in and installed it myself. hardest part is getting the stock downpipe out and getting the new 5in down pipe put on. Oh yeah it sounds way better to and the exhaust brake wistle is so cool, people just stare at you when you hit the exhaust brake while driving next to them. hope all the info helps
