I disagree with that first part. Regardless who made the p.o.s, Ford still made the choice to put the p.o.s in there trucks. Even shortly after Navastar/International brought out the p.o.s (6.0) and EVERYONE knew what a p.o.s it was, Ford made the choice to continue using it. Now, if Ford is going to put this p.o.s in there product and sell it on there lot, I strongly beleave that thay should stand behind it, and thay don't. I am very glad to see that Ford is finally starting to do something about it. I just can't beleave that it took them more than 5 years to get off of there asses and do somthing to fix the problem. I really do hope that this new Scorpian V8 thay are working on restores there reputation on being a strong and solid truck..

well im glad that you disagree because i DISAGREE with the fact that you get 20 mpg pulling a loaded trailer so we both have something here. i have several friends that drive cummins and they do get good mileage. but 20 give me a break. but any way im not interested in going any further on this conversation with you. nor am i interested in another ignorant battle on here. there are already enough of them. so this one is OVEr.... have a good day

Pulling a load of plate steel laying flat on the trailer catching no wind we have got 19.7mpg hand calculated by amount of miles on truck from last fill devided by the number of gallons of fule put in at that fill.

Hey E2, does your truck(s) have a preference for any particular brand of fuel? I know when I've been out in the Wyoming/Montana area, I've always had the best power and mileage useing Cenex. though I don't know how easy it is to fina in your neck of the woods. Seems to be a lot easier to find up North of you and East to Wisconcin. There ain't a stinking Cenex within 800 miles of where I live!

20 mpg plus is possible based on a couple things
1, how heavy your foot is. if you can control to the slighty pressure on the pedal, you can get 20 mpg plus but dont think you can get that running much over 70mph. ive gotten 23.4 once, but i ran no faster then 55 on the highway with the current setup i have below.
2. transmissions, ive found that an auto gets a little worse then a 5 or 5 spd manual. why is this, i dont know, but my old 98.5 had an auto, i was lucky to see 17 mpg with just the edge set on level 1x4, with my 99 with injectors and it set on the same setup, plus bigger tires, i normally see 18-20 depending on how well i contrl the smoke.
now 20mpg pulling a trailer, if thats accurate, im impressed, ive never heard of that but that doesnt mean its not possible, E2, ive gotta come out to your neck of the woods and ride in the trucks of yours, they sound pretty wicked.

and a quote from Dmax007- this site is entirely the blind leading the blind. nobody on this site has the balls to stand up to this stupid blowin smoke gang. got news for you, i do.

Well i figure i'll throw in my two cents here, i will agree with you that the cummins is a good strong motor and is probably the best all around truck for a daily trailer tugger, But what most of you are forgetting is that GM has prided itself in building a quieter, more comfortable riding truck so that when you turn 65 and want to retire pulling your fifth wheel around you can do so comfortably. They are geared towards completely different markets. You have to give GM credit that after things went south with the 6.5 to build a production diesel in the shortest time period in all of the big 3 (just over 5 years) they did a damn good job. which brings up another point GM is the only manufacturer of the big 3 to actually build it's own diesel, Isuzu is a GM built division. International and Cummins were both contracted motors so in that respect GM does deserve some credit. yeah there have been some sour apples along the way. but look at the turbo nightmare the 6.0L brought forth and the wiring issues the 6.4l brought forth, and cummins wasn't perfect in the begining either. So I'll tip my hat to the DMAX any day.

And So you all know i actually own a 7.3 powerstroke and i'm still biased towards the duramax as being a better all around truck not geared specifically towards one area such as, daily towing(cummins) Beefy & Tough(Ford) The chevy however has good body lines, good drivetrain for plug and play tuning, and interior looks and comfort

The GMs are good for toy haulin' and a recreational truck. They're the most comfortable, and have the nicest interiors (IMHO). But I'd go with a Dodge or Ford for a work truck.

Well today was a very sad day indeed. My 2006 Cummins gernaded at about 5:38 am this morning. After taking apart the motor and pulling it from the truck, taking up all of my day I found that the smaller turbos waste gate failed and the turbo super spooled and started spinning backwards and when it blew up it i sent shapnal into the motor complely destroying four injectors and the oil pan. The truck will return all my parts for it are gonna be in Friday, industrial injection is covering all the costs because it was their wastegate that failed.
