Ok so I have been waiting to get a truck for so long and now that I can actually start looking to buy the fuel prices are so high that it's making me think about getting a nice merc or bmw. I have a crew cab 2001 f150 that I will be keeping regardless. I am looking at either a new/used 2007-2006 quad cab/mega or a 2008 Chevy lmm. Id straight pipe the new engines but i want the 5.9L cummins. So I really have no need for a diesel other than I like everything about them the noise and power and a lifted truck looks sick. So I will have two trucks.

So what do you think about a nice C-class or 3 series Bmw. I mean these are very very nice cars the fuel mileage isn't the greatest or anything like that. Then I thought about a diesel car. Also the cars are just classy and when I wanted a night out or something that car would be great for that type of thing.

Does anyone have any ideas.

Lot of variables to consider. Is this a "want" or "need" purchase? What would be your daily driver? What's your realistic budget?

C-Class or 3-series are nice cars, but I can tell you from experience working in a German car garage, as well as owning a German car myself is that they require a lot of maintenance, and parts and labor are expensive on them. As long as you know that going into it, then that's fine. If you're going new, I'd consider a lease on the Bimmer or Mercedes.

As far as diesel cars, your options are somewhat limited right now. VW just came out with the TDI Jetta. I drove one. They're pretty nice. They're not super-fast or anything, but have decent power, and get awesome fuel economy (40-50 mpg). BMW is coming out with the 335d for 2009, and that's going to have 265 hp and 425 lb./ft. of torque. They're saying 0-60 in about 6 sec. flat. But it's going to be sedan-only and automatic-only for the U.S.

Between the Dodge & Chevy, they're both nice. Just depends on if you're looking for a real "trucker's truck" or something that's comfy that you can haul around your toys with. Dodge is definitely more of a workhorse, and the Cummins is probably a better platform to tweak for power. You can get good power out of a Dmax too, but Cummins is the one to get if you plan on really going crazy with the mods. Hope this helps.

since you all ready have a truck you wont get rid of get one of those diesel volks wagon i hear there hell on wheels when you bump up the power, To the new trucks with all the emissons crap on them they will not give you any of the power or mileage you might think they would be smart get a small car to putt around in and when you need to take out a girl in the field drive the old ford
