itll depend on how much he hauls and what level he sets that box too. im running dual egt gauges even pullin 18k with my 150s, i dont see much over 1250 going up hill with my edge set on 1, but again im running a little more air then he will be. 75hp-90 hp sticks will be fine

Depends on the modifications you have at the time the injectors are installed. One change affects everything else. If you have a cold air intake and aftermarket exhaust, you might be allright(under 1300), depending on your right foot. If you have a programmer, you will need an aftermarket intercooler at least, if you run a high setting on your programmer, a turbo upgrade will probably be necessary. At this level, gauges (egt especially) and an aftermarket lift pump are mandatory. You do not want to run your engine above 1350 degrees, ever!

actually on the 99, your stock intercooler will be fine. no need to upgrade it for the level your wanting. shoot, my best friends truck pushin 750 hp on the stock intercooler and his egts are right at 1300 at WOT. hes running 240 hp injectors, so youll be fine. the newer common rail intercoolers are smaller and made of plastic, the 24 valves have aluminiunm intercoolers.

yes itll help you build boost, itll increase your max PSI and itll increase turbo spool up, some are better then others so i suggest a BD aftermarket one, banks are okay, but kinda pricey. i think schieds also has one they sell but i dont have any info on it.

basically it works by changing the pressue at which the wastegate is open and changes the velocity of the air

Not true! The intercooler on my '06 is all aluminum, and its stock! I meant if he has 90HP injectors and a programmer and runs it at its highest setting, he needs an aftermarket intercooler to keep the egt's down. If he has a turbo upgrade, then he may not need it. It can also depend on how you drive, and what you do with your truck. An individual situation is just that, individual!

an 06, is a 3rd gen, and yes it does have plastic ends and yes, they are smaller, i just worked on one yesterday. the stock intercooler on a 24 valve is fine until you get above 550-600 hp, heck, im running 150 hp injectors and im on the stock turbo im not even getting close to bad EGTs, even with my edge turned up, its obivous you havent played with these trucks very much mr 06cummins5.9

Its obvious you havn't looked under the hood of my truck, Mrs. Dukegirl. The endtanks are aluminum, only the inlet tube on the passenger side is plastic. They are narrower from side to side, but the core is thick. Kinda like your head.
