my friends are big dodge diesel guys with chips and stacks on their truck and and we had an idea to play around with my truck but i have a 93 7.3 non turbo diesel and we have herd that you can take the side plate of the injection pump and turn a screw and increase fuel flow and gain some horsepower but is anything that it could mess up by doing this???

If you run it richer, you will get higher EGTs, and probably a lot more smoke. You'll probably get a little more power, but not as much as if you had a turbo. Besides that, I don't know if there are many other side-effects, negative or positive.

If it is anything like the Ford 6.9L Diesel you can just turn up the screw that you are talking about. But unless you somehow also increase your air intake to match you won't get a lot out of it. I had mine turned up and all I got horrible smelling exhaust and worse fuel milage. However, I just added a BanksPower Sidewinder Turbo and that made a huge difference. You will gain more power and that extra fuel will actually be put to use instead of just blown out the back. You may not be able to hang with a chipped out truck, but there are more options than just a turbo. You may want to consided an intercooler and/or the biggest exhaust you can get.

How much do you have to turn the screw to get smoke? My friend and I tryed on his truck and we turned it about a half turn with no results. We've not had the time to try it again but any help would be good.
