I heard that ford made 2 turbos for the 1994 idi motors, is there a big difference and why wont a di turbo work on a idi motor if it the same part number via ford dealer.

That is the first that I have heard about that, They may be comparing the IDI turbo to the PSD turbo, Late 94 was the first year for the PSD's but you could only get them with a 5 speed. Then 95 was the first full year production for the PSD, and you could get the auto or 5 speed.
Just my .02,..

Before I droped in the Cummins I was running the 7.3 with the old Big Box Banks style turbo setup. 4" exhaust, Home Brew Propane system, some minor pump adjustments, and "G" code injectors.
With a c6 trans, Gearvenders OD, 4:10 gears and 35" tires I ran it on the Dyno. I wanted to see what difference the LPG made other than the obvous seat of the pants difference.

Here are the results:
First pull, no LPG
HP 183.15 Torque 325.45

2nd and 3rd pull with LPG

HP 205.35 Torque 362.64
HP 205.51 Torque 361.55

So 22.96 increase in HP
and 37.19 increase in Torque.

They say that is about 289 HP at the crank, and 417 TQ

The IDI can only handle 15 PSI of boost at max, I could max out my boost guage and guess it would hit 17 if I wanted to. I eventually blew a head gasket, but this was driving the truck for 4 years on an unknown mileage motor.

You also can get a high performance pump and it does make quite a differenc. It is called the "Moose Pump"

Here is some info on that:

If you need a turbo you can pick a used setup on ebay once in a while for 1,000 or under, just make sure you are getting a comletet kit.

Have a great day,..!

My '94 idi put 220 hp and 460 something of torque( I don't have the dyno report anymore...it went with the truck when I sold it)at 14 psi of boost on the dyno. I later bumped the boost to 18 psi and ran it like that for 9 years (250,000 kilometers) without a problem. When my brother-inlaw saw how good the truck went he did the same mods and ran 18psi as well. He ran that truck problem free for years and later sold it to a friend who still has it to this day...problem free. I know that everytime I told a Ford tech that I was running 18 pounds, they would about poop themselves and tell me that I can't do that...Well I can and did... maybe we were just lucky, I don't know.

My friend has a 1990 f-250 and we need to get it away from stock with more fuel, air intakes, and turbos, does anyone have any clue on how to do this?

GO to ATS, Banks or Hypermax turbos.

Thanks for the reply, Do you know how to beef up the fuel any, or is it set. I've got a 99' dodge 2500, with an edge comp, hypertec programmer, silver line 4" from the turbo back, theirs lots of extras on the market for the 24 valve but not many for the IDI ford. we've got 4" stacks for the IDI to open the exhuast up and thinking about fabing up an air intake for it till he can get (afford) a turbo for it, any ideas on gettin more fuel or how to build an air intake for the IDI?

I had the ATS kit...my bud had the Banks. I kicked  his butt bad enough that he sold it and bought the ATS.

I have a complete Banks setup for your truck, for sale. I'd take just $650 for the complete setup.
